So people in Caborca are really pissed about the new toll booth east of town.92 Pesos for that crappy toll road???..it is on this Thursday (see below)
Karina Garcia "I sympathize with the general discontent and indignation with good reason prevails among the inhabitants of the municipalities of the District III as well as the users, by the abusive and unjustified increase of almost 40% in the toll booth of the Santa Ana-Altar located within the territory of trenches and the amount of which is already currently $ 93 pesos, amount irrational and insulting to the tough economic times that people currently face and becoming sadly thus at the toll booth most expensive of all the Country.
Although the company has announced PINFRA "benefit" resident card that is designed to give us the 50% discount to the inhabitants of the region, the surprising and disproportionate increase in toll fee is a serious blow to the economy families, farmers and business people who are in the need to move frequently for the cavalcade as well as general users, they can not really use the alternate route to ensure the safety not to travel on the route missions (Tubutama-MAGDALENA) due to insecurity unfortunate incidents that have occurred in recent years. This "privilege" that gives residents, does not relieve the company of arbitrariness and irresponsibility to make this decision without regard to the national index of consumer prices (CPI) and as I have understood without considering the rise, power to the dealership , should only occur once in the year and during the month of January, with this being the second time so far this 2012 that do. If this is so, is not entirely clear breach of this company in the terms of the grant. This, also adds to the fact that current facilities tollbooth are not adequate to not having as basic and necessary services such as health, safety rest areas and sufficient. As I said before, this is a situation that worries me and I'll take you to the Congress and the State, once while on duty and with all rights and powers as Deputy'll have within the next legislature. To do this, I will mention that I've been doing for information on this and I have asked the State Executive via Local Deputy CTM extraction Vicente Solis, send us a copy of the Concession Agreement between the Government of Sonora and the company ZONALTA for review, analyze and act accordingly always attached to the legality and trying to see the benefit of my clients and seek alternatives that impact positively on the people of my region. Finally, congratulations and I sympathize to claim citizen who intends therefore expressed through demonstrations, marches, deployed, etc.., As a way of demanding what is right and has every right to do.

What piece of the highway does this toll apply to ? From where to where? This translation reads as if it might be a private company?

Bob it goes from just east of caborca to Santa Ana....what a scam and i think it is private.Indiana has one of these now too that is run by Euros. If you have to go back and forth it is a pain..plus they check the plates there and seize junkers with shaky titles

Is there an alternate route around the toll road? I used to go down that way regularly but have not been for a long time now. The were working on a couple of those stretches back then but no tolls. That's a crazy toll, absoutely nuts even for a one way trip.

Jerry, spoke with Javier M. from Caborca OCV and he did confirmed to me that the dirt road between Sasabe and Altar I think, will be paved and construction should start sometime towards the end of the year, that should make for a really nice tour thru many of Padre Kino's little towns!!

Ink do not go that way now...the road virtually doesn't exist in parts...quicksand even! It will be great (surveyors are out there now from the road crews and the pipeline crews)but will miss the missions.....picture a straight shot to Caborca...lunch...stock up at the great produce ,bakery goods, butchershops and Pharmacy, ace hardware in Caborca then gas up for the coastal highway. This will be great for sportsmen that want to avoid the Penasco scene. You could leave tucson central and be at Lobos in under 4 hours launching or headed farther South exploring or more important for me be at my Santo Tomas house 2 hours faster than Lukeville route
