hello ....
If you have the new the FM-2 type visa you the are allowed 200.00 US equivalent into Mexico ...than over that your taxed 16%. Which is household stuff!
BUT...CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL there is
no personal limit, all construction material is taxed at 16%.
Now, once you bring in a taxed amount of
$1000.00 or more, you have to hire a broker, and its taxed at 25% of value.
Now, remembered, they take total amount on your receipt, including US tax you paid!
MY EXPERIENCE, is that you bring in only what construction material you the need/want, and the buy in RP.
So, Az tax is + - 9.5, %....then add in the 16% MEXICO taxes you will owe....
That's close to/is a 26% tax rate. I buy construction material mostly in RP! I brought a bathroom vanity in last year from Home Depot. Paid 9.5% in Yuma and 16% at the border.
When I took it out of the box in RP, Made in MEXICO was stamped in the back. I went down a few days later to that main tile store behind the Premex on the right, and there on display, bigger than poo, the price was cheaper than the base Home Depot price, without Yuma tax and Mex inport tax! Plus gas to US just to buy a vanity!
I find that now I can find construction material in RP I need and a good price!
