[h=5]PUERTO PEÑASCO, SONORA.-developers tourist in Puerto Peñasco were announced their dissatisfaction against the enforcement of Sonoyta, in the sense of the large number of extortions in which are incurring by the agents, thus causing the absence of North American tourism who have been victim to cross by that place.
Both the representative of the Chamber of Commerce and tourism developers, gave to understand that this phenomenon is taking a great flight, since everything seems to indicate that elements of the preventive police and Municipal transit have taken as its center of operations the path where the Americans, those who do not conform to make them see the alleged infringement are movedincurred in the classical "bite", even when the visitors requested an explanation for the alleged reasons.
The worst case is that the Americans have made themselves known arrests make them out of this town, where after questioning them, extort them with certain amount of dollars so that they can continue with the journey, without the need that will pay the cost of the fine to the offices of the Municipal Public Security Directorate, as it would be the right thing.
The leader of the CANACO of Peñasco, Lorenzo blocks, like Miguel Guevara, representative of the direction of international tourism promotion, were announced that it is necessary that the municipal authorities of Sonoyta carry out supervision in the performance of the elements that are leading that tourists, in addition to be a bad image, forcing him not to return.
Practically are against the economy of this municipality, whose activity is primary, but to continue with this type of action the situation wrath of evil at worst.
They are preventive police officers responsible for extortions to international tourism, so it is urgent that the holder of the Corporation put more attention to the matter, since failure to do this theme will be presented to the Secretary of tourism of the Government of the entity.
Disclosed that they are practically committing outright theft, argued leaders citing that during the past 'bridge' of EU where had the presence of thousands of Bikers, some of them complained of anomalies of the policemen, cancer must be addressed, because cannot afford these are hidden with the patrols at the exit of Sonoyta hunting potential "victims".(Translated by Bing)

Related, one of my pet peeves living here is the differential enforcement of the traffic regulations. Locals , including the police, routinely fly through stop signs, sometime without even slowing down. I drove like a local when I first moved here and got nabbed several times before I woke up. I now stop, completely, every time at every stop sign, much to the dismay of the taxi drivers, who are by far the worst offenders. I was stopped coming out of the Malecon a few days back as I came out the 'back way' which to my surprise had been reversed one way, in is OK out is not. Well I hit the intersection at the same time as a local enforcement officer who hooked it around and ran me down. I jawboned him and he let me go. There are NO signs at several intersections leaving the Malecon through the neighborhood. One night I came to an 'almost' stop and got honked down. Two yokels shouldered their firearms as they got out of the truck and one said you need to make a 'complete stop". I hooted and said you guys never stop. While I talked to one I realized that the other guy had slipped my wallet out and was opening it. I took it back as he was fingerin my pesos and he said 'some people hide drugs in their wallet'. I got in my truck and left.
The best one was coming in from Cholla with Ana's father, an MD who was working with the police, sitting next to me. A guy ran me down, I stopped, he got out shouldering his weapon, walked up to my jeep, bent down looked in the window, saw Jose, turned around and went back to his vehicle without a word. I am making Jose blow up dolls for anyone that wants one !!

They're going to be out in full force tomorrow afternoon on both ends of Ajo as well! I drive like a turtle in Ajo, Why, and Sonoyta.

Too funny the pic in the article is my brother in law coming down last week. We were behind him and he was pulled over for doing "70km" amazingling enough hauling a trailer with a sofa sectional on it and just going over a tope too. We travel enough here and know not to speed thru sonoyta but too hard to prove. What sucked the most was we were bringing newbies to rp and they had to experience .

Absolutely. I could walk faster most of the time. But... I know how to play the game. No way in hell they can say I was speeding. Also - keep an eye out at the two Border Patrol checkpoints. Often, a sheriff will be sitting there with radar and likes to hand out tickets if you don't slow down at the 55-45-35-25-15 signs.
