High tides this weekend

Wow, that's a whole lot of information. Anyone put any stock in those solunar charts? I find it's more about time of day and tide for near-shore fishing.

Process I go through before I decide on coming down.

1. Casa Weez weather underground

2. Windfinder.com

3. tides4fishing.com

The last two weekends I went down the fish probability was High or Very High and both those weekends produced.

I pull out my tide calendar and decide which weekend will have the LEAST tides (1st qtr., last qtr. moon). But, that's because I fish deeper water. I don't think it affects you shallow water inshore guys as much.

On a big high tide, you nearly need to tie an anchor to your line to get it down 250 ft. The current sweeps it out and away. Plus, the fish hunker down on the reef and aren't actively feeding. You get a narrow hour window of slack tide before the tide starts heading out/in again and if you miss that window, fuggidaboudit.

Casa Weez is 2nd to look at for wind. I used to use BuoyWeather, but let my subscription lapse because I haven't been able to go fishing very much in the past six months.

Solaluna tables are pretty much bunk in my opinion. The fish eat when they're hungry; they don't look at a chart to see when the early bird special is for the day! ;)

All moot points.

The tides and solunar tables might look good for this weekend, but the wind forecast looks like fricking Katrina.

Welcome to Penasco fishing! (as if you need an introduction) :D

Basically 10-20 mph for the next week from what I see. Enough to make it non-stop miserable and that's just Casa Weez forecast -- I'm sure it will be blowing stronger than that offshore.

Looks like I'm heading down over Easter (lucky me). I can't seem to convince the wife that going to Penasco over Semana Santa is a really bad idea. <from the "Some People Just Don't Listen" department>

Even I wouldn't be thrilled about going down that weekend!
