Mexico Joe
Cholla Bay 4 Life
Yesterday Im flipping through channels and come across some movie on HBO Latino. A Tiro de Piedra was the name of the movie and as Im watching it I start to get what it is about. This Mexican male is going North towards the border to cross into the US. The movie is all about his journey as it follows the main character on his route to Oregon. The subject arrives in a mountainous region of Mexico and comes across a logging operation and is talking to a foreman, asking for a lift the rest of the way to the US border. When the subject is telling the other person where he is going he says the frontera followed by Sonoyta. I thought to myself, that's interesting I wonder if it's the same Sonoyta? No more than 2 minutes later the film shows the subject riding in the bed of a pick up truck rounding the corner in Sonoyta right by the Circle K/Pemex at the Y!!!! Im like, HEYYYYYY ITS SONOYTA!!!! The subject walks to the border fence looking for a place to cross into AZ. You can most definitely tell by the surrounding areas that it is the region down by Lukeville/Sonoyta. Pretty wild, subject then crosses, runs through the desert for a while, gets picked up on what appears to be the 85 and then is shown riding on the back of a motorcycle through what appears to be Jacumba on the way to SD. Pretty crazy because all of the locations appear to be the actual locations. Just wanted to post it here, thought it was funny and wanted to know if anyone else has seen this movie? Also, what mountainous region of Mexico would the subject have been coming through on his way to Sonoyta? It looked like the Tecate divide and when he arrives in Sonoyta he is coming around the curve heading East off of Mexican Highway 2.
