Green (Algae) Tide Pools

The other day we discovered the tide pools in front of Bella Sirena (Sandy Beach) were green - from a distance they almost looked like they were covered with grass.

Does anyone know what caused the algae to grow almost over night - does it stay around?

These tide pools never seem to have vegatation in them or critters - just lava rock. Used to take the kids years ago to tide pools that had lots of critters (star fish, crabs, etc.) and sea plants. Not sure any more how to reach them or if tide pools by the Reef have critters. Any information appreciated.

The tide pools in front of Playa de Oro have lots of critters. Best to use a flashlight after dark when the tide is out far enough.
