Can anyone tell me what i'm in for bringing a truck load of furniture and garage tools to my house here in Rocky Point? Do they charge me tax on my own things?

Ernie.....

I just came across with a truck overfull of furniture, a couple of days ago, plus a bunch of new stuff.

I just showed them my MEX visa (old fm-2)
and said it was for my house in RP.

They said ok, and go.....no Mex tax.

All my furniture was wrapped in black construction plastic. I cut a slit in one so they could look.

Maybe its the luck of the draw, but your allowed one big load if ya prove resident of Mex, I think.

Goeff from Border Movers can answer your questions. He knows how the system works. May want to let him haul the stuff. Did a good job for us.

I would let the professionals move it unless you want to take smaller loads. I have been doing it for years and each time is a new experience. I used to pay a bribe but I would not suggest trying that. When I bring things that I see as have value I bring receipts, otherwise it is up to there discression. Sometimes they take a look and let me go.

You can bring in one free load if you own a home here, BUT you have to get the permit from the Mex. Consulate and it is not simple. As mentioned it will depend on WHO is manning the border at the time you try to cross. You may coast right through but you may lose everything too, it's up to you what risk you want to take. They are enforcing their laws more recently than in past years. I'd call Goff if you have things important to you.
