Lovin it in RP!
Is that the big hole they've dug across the road from the Reef area?
No Joe, I dont know if you are kidding or not......

If you were on the Cholla mall road or Shacks 5th ave road and continued towards the Sandy Beach Resorts office it would be on your left with a view to Las Palomas

No Russ...I wasn't kidding or trying to be a wise ass by the question. I did see a large (area wise) hole that is being dug off the road to Cholla....just past the Reef area....it's between the current road....and the old road that is blocked off.....thought that was what you were referring to. Maybe it's a site for sand for construction purposes? Actually,if they continue the way they are, a couple of the power poles will topple over (the power lines for Cholla)!!!

I think the convention center will be mainly used by Mexican companies and government. Penasco is already a well known and liked destination for Mexicans. Del Sol already has a pretty consistent schedule of meetings etc. so the convention center will probably hurt them. Maybe some from the US will come as well if it is marketed up in AZ. Convention planning is a huge and profitable business and many venues in the US are booked years in advance. I don't think it will go wrong here.

I read in the Tucson paper that that the convention center would be used primarily by Mexican companies, but the enticement would be that shopping in Phoenix and Tucson was only 4 hours away, so the could charter a bus to take them there and back (or their spouses). Sounded like a win win for everyone!

Will this convention center be used for private events as well..? If so I imagine it will take business away from the smaller places like the JetSet and other venues that were used for weddings and other events...
