We went to the Cervantino Festival in Old Port last Saturday night. It was fantastic! It started at 5:00, we got there at 7:00 we left at 11:15- it was still going strong. There was a variety of acts- most were excellent. I don't love opera, but it was incredible. The singers were dressed as regular individuals, and came out of the audience, singing. I thought at first the opera was a CD, but my husband said "I think that garbage man pushing the garbage can is singing". And he was! They had a woman dressed as a police officer, a vendor peddling a cart, and a chef all singing opera. It as so much fun. They had a great band before the main act playing swing/jazz, and a very large group dancing. It was a great turnout, and we'll definitely go both nights next year. Thanks Penasco, thanks Mayor, and thanks to all the sponsors.
