Does anyone what what the schedule is for the Carnival (March 4-8) - what it costs, etc. Did anyone go last year? If so, impressions? Is it an easy walk up from Sandy Beach or is there good parking available?
There is a huge billboard now on the road to the Malecon with all the dates and events on it. I'll go by and copy the info. I think the events will be held at the huge empty area next to the Pinacate Condos at the end of Calle 13. Last year entry was off Calle 13 down the last street to the left toward the marina. Lots of parking for a few pesos. Entry last year was a few bucks, no mucho. Whatever you do, don't miss the parade (s). The costumes last year were incredible.
Someone today said that things only go on during the evening - is this correct? I'm not a night owl - like wandering around in the warmth of day - will things be "happening" in the afternoons?
The concerts are in the evening. There are three parades in the daytime. 5,6,7. Of course no start time published. I've seen no times for the concerts either, just the names of the bands.
Looks like there are 4 parades Sabado, Domingo, Lunes Y Tuesday. Probably start in the middle of the day sometime. On Benito Juarez so if you get rerouted you know they are happening. If you park on a side street be aware if it is closed off at Benito Juarez you have a good chance of getting parked in. That's the Mexican way !! I'd suggest parking on a parallel street that is open to traffic. I sat across from Lucas chicken last year, near the reviewing stand.
