Border Report 6-12-2011

Arrived at border about 8:45AM and since we both had Passport Cards, was directed to new ready Lane (#1) which was empty and went through in record time! Other lanes had 3 to 4 cars waiting. Did see a bad Border Patrol SUV accident up the road from Lukeville. Vehicle appeared to be towing a trailer with 2 ATV's and overturned into a tree on the east side of 85. Looked pretty bad. Have not heard anything as to what happened or any injuries or not.

Got to the border about 9:30 am. officer asked if we had the cards we said no so she sent us to lane 2 with nobody waiting. also saw the border patrol car overturned.
While at Marcellas in Ajo a couple of agents were sitting next to us and we asked if everyone was okay and they said yes the guy was fine. Looked pretty bad though!

Must have been traveling way to fast with the trailer in tow. Hope he wasn't trying to chase someone.

It was the same way with us on the 5th......the two lanes to the left were open with about five/six cars in each lane. When the agent asked if we had cards, which we did, he waved us on into the first lane. There was one car just finishing up in that lane, so we were "in and out" in record time as well.....a couple of quick questions and we were on our way!!!!

Crossed on Monday about 2pm....4 lanes open, with 2-3 vehicles at each....took maybe 10 minutes to clear. Had my dog with me, but the customs guy didn't ask about papers, although the checkpoint on the US side when I was going down on Friday did ask about them . The secondary check stations were full.

Saw a Pima sheriff patrolling in the area of the border patrol checkpoint, but not sitting there like last trip....

Crossed into the US last night (Monday) at about 10pm, 1 lane open, only 1 car in front of us. No hassles (even without a Passport, just DL and Birth Certificate), breezed right through. On the way into Mexico on Friday at 5ish, two lanes split up going through, was just asked by Border Patrol if we were bringing in any weapons or ammunition. There was a bit of a line but it went quickly.
