Best Route to Caborca and South from PP

Given the torn up highway from PP to Caborca and some one posting the distance going direct or up through Sonoya then Caborca was the same I checked milage both routes.
PP - Sonyta - Caborca = 253 KM
PP - Caborca + 239 KM

This surprised the heck out of me, but Google doesn't lie, right??

Given the + 14 KM difference in distance and the road conditions the route through Sonoyta to Caborca is far superior choice when driving from Penasco to any destination south of Penasco except the coastal destinations north of Liberdad. Santa Ana, Hermosillo, San Carlos, Kino or Mexico City ! Even with the completion of the coastal highway, until the highway into Caborca is improved this will be true.

Not to mention all the Topos in the ejidos along the way.
I enjoy the sights on the direct route as the other is stark but the road conditions are a deal breaker for me at least.

I do the road at least once a month, I cant save time going to Sonoyta no matter what the GPS says. I get from Penasco to Hermosillo in 445 and back in 510 same miles more inspection going north. Caborca road is a challenge but worth the 15 minutes to me as I am on a schedule'

Buckeye to Penasco. Got caught on 85 north of Gila Bend speeding. I have the radar/laser escort device. It did not warn me. DPS said he used a "stopwatch" to determine my "approximate speed". Talked with a lawyer and he said the stopwatch deal holds up well in Arizona . I did the online traffic school today...painless. $210.00. Be careful on this road.

You should have requested a trial in Gila Bend. Good chance the trooper would not have shown up. I have a friend who has done this twice with that result.
