Best and Worst of 08

I like to nominate JJ’S Cantina for one of the worst for 08, $2.75 a beer, No A/C during the summer. I know a lot of people launch their boat out of that harbor. One of the most
Exciting things is watching the boats come in with their catch @ JJ”S Harbor. Let them know their beer prices are over priced. Well most people run around with a full ice chest
Of their favorite beer and won’t encounter this problem.

Quality Star RV park for worst in 2008, specifically Arturo the theif. After enjoying a good year at this covered park, Arturo first decided to unplug all the trailers that previously were allowed to hookup to keep batteries charged and refridgerators running. Then he decided to pocket our rent money for himself until the federales shut him down. Luckily I got my stuff out of there before it got ugly.

5 broken sewer lines for Arturo and Quality Star.

I'd like to nominate the 3 guys who crow bar the cattleguard apart on the Saric to Sasabee short cut; then when a truck stops or falls in it they appear and go to town fixing it.Tips are appreciated.

Oh, sounds like the break-ins in Las Conchas, when suddenly there appears a "friendly property manager" who says, "don't worry mister, I'll take care of it" and suddenly, no more break-ins???? Hmmmm.

Worst:
1. Sandy Beach Resorts (aka Gus and Ben Brown) Continuing to not finish the landscaping, lighting or pool facilities for Costa Diamante as promised for over 8 years and relishing in the fact that they aren't going too.

Best:
1. Sandy Beach Resorts (aka Gus and Ben Brown) finally turing the HOA over to the owners at Costa Diamante and actually doing 1/4 of the required landscaping. It is amazing how the upkeep of the development is almost 1/5th as advertised. Interesting.

The best would be the reduced visitor count, almost as uncrowded as 15 years ago. the worst would be the reduced visitor count because of the impact on the local economy. Check out the Sunday travel section drum thumping on the merits of San Diego.Cold ass crowded beaches, no thanks, can't even drink a cerveza on the beach there and you're called a Zonie .California's version of haole.

Worst to Best ratio is going to be 10:1 here (laughing).
Playaperro - a $2.75 bar beer is a ripoff? How cheap do you want 'em? They have to turn a profit - a 6 pack off the grocery store shelf is one thing but... I say anything under $3.50 is reasonable.

Camel Toe Cantina - $1.00 draft and $1.50 bottles all the time. (shameless plug, thanks Shawn)

BEST (kept secret)
1. No more multi-hour waits at the Lukeville border on Sunday afternoons.
2. Drive to RP on the Mexico 8 isn't as harrowing as a few years ago.
3. Evenings are quiet and peaceful. The 3 am cherry bombs don't boom as much.
4. Dollar is stronger against the peso. Hey, I'm buying more booze in RP rather than UETA now.
5. Beaches are mellow. (Depends on what you like.)
6. Gas prices are back to "normal".

WORST
1. Bars/clubs are aren't as packed.
2. Real estate market has slowed. Great deals to be had.
3. Exaggerated spring break warning/border violence/swine flu fears.
4. Local economy struggles. Beach vendors unrelenting.
