I was heading home from RP a couple of years ago and just south of Ajo a deer jumped in front of my truck. It was just before dark and it came out of a brush filled ditch. Didn't see it until the last second and didn't even have time to hit the breaks. I pulled over and looked at the destroyed right corner of the truck and turned around and went looking for the deer. Never could find it but I can't imagine it survived. I felt terrible as I love animals, but there wasn't anything I could have done. Thankfully the truck was drivable and after repairing it I looked into preventing something like this from ever happening again. I found a company that markets a product called SAVE-A-DEER for $5.95. It is a small stick-on whistle that when you're going over 35 mph emits a whistling sound that warns deer. I don't know if it works or not, but at least I'm trying to protect the wildlife. Haven't hit anymore deer! Saw 851 covering his ears! LOL Check it out at Deer whistle / accident prevention - The animal alert safety warning device.

I see a lot of deer up here in the Prescott area, and I often see them grazing along the side of the road on my way to work at certain times of the year.( above Goldwater lake, on the old Senator HWY).Many times there is a shear wall next to where their grazing, and I'm afraid that if I put one of these whistles on it would scare them right out onto the road since they would have to cross it in front of me to find cover. They seem to be fine with the cars passing them in the dark and within feet... I'm going to just let them be calm if their used to it. Here's where you can get them though.deer warning | eBay
Here's a picture I took out the window of my house of a deer stealing hay. Her head would pop up and down like a arcade target..LOL

I was driving back to Phoenix this morning, I left Cholla Bay about 630am and headed up to beat the traffic. I had to work and make some money so that I could go back in two weeks. I was about 60 kilometers north on Highway 8 and looking for a place to get rid of some coffee when I saw some movement off to the west. Not sure what it was so I pulled over and was taking care of business when out of the corner of my eye I spotted 851 and 5-6 does. He was looking fit and well fed after the rains last month sprouted up all the wild grasses. He looked at me and I looked at him and then we went our separate ways. Came home to another day of work, I hope to see him again.
