Pretty amazing story:
American police harassing border crossers (Canadians)

I am so surprised!
On the other hand my son informed me as we were returning from Penasco on Sunday afternoon that he had left his passport at home, and so I apologized to the Us Customs agent that we only had my passport and his Us driver's license. Without batting an eye the agent said no worries and that if he had one he could pull it up with his license and he did just that. After asking the usual questions regarding what was being brought back, he wished us a safe trip and we were on our way without any lectures or admonitions.
This is fairly typical of the courtesy that is usually shown to us on both sides of the border.
A few weeks ago wife and I were jaywalking across to the small taco stand in Sonoita and here came a Mexican police truck with a mounted 50 caliber which stopped with its lights flashing. The police shakedown stories all came to mind at that moment but all we got was the courtesy wave and smile from the policeman, stopping both directions of traffic, permitting us to cross.

Jim, I had the exact same experience leaving Capones one night. Wife and I were crossing street
and up pulled my buddies in the gun mounted police truck. They turned on the lights, big smile and waved us across the street.
Obviously they didn't realize they were dealing with the Green Valley Desperado. My experience with them has been quite
positive, even when they got me for crashing a light, which I confessed to. They treated me with great respect, collected their money
and walked me to the door.

GV, the best country in the world is the one that makes YOU feel that way about it, like we say in Peru, "Sobre gustos y colores no han dicho nada los escritores" in other word you love blue however there are million shades of red!!! after 30 years I must say that USA has change so much it is the same as a third world country with all the rules and regulations of a first class world country and still get to abuse its citizens, even worse, than a third world country!!!!!
and as a suggestion just think about it there are hundreds of countries to be visited and it takes more than a pleasure trip to realized what is going on.
I personally fell in love with a true fishermens village in Morroco called Teleta da Tetuan, where the best arab coffee and tea are brew and of course the selection of kiff is out of this world!!! and the goats milk and the cheese and the fresh veggies and the fresh seafood and the.....and the.....and the!!!!!! but then again you might hate it!!!
