Yes there was some kind of scuffle over there that we heard about from a person that lives at Playa de Oro, they heard what they thought were shots....then they rolled over and went to bed. She mentioned that she also has a place in Phoenix but she sleeps better here. So I guess if you weren't on the road at 1:20 (who would be?) and walking by at exactly the same time as this fight occurred (fights occur, people are stupid) ...it probably had nothing to do with you. By the way, even though I don't sell condos, I have friends that do and sales are going great. But good try at the dissing game.
I would be on the road at 1:20, and I'm sure thousands more were too this past weekend for Circus Mexicus.
Ok clarify, I meant walking on the road next to the jerks having it out at 1:20 am. Most CM 2015 folks that stayed for the whole show, which ended at 12:10 am were on Sandy beach less than 5 minutes from the show. The point is still valid, you can find bad people doing bad things at times when most people are in bed.
Well locals that hide bad news may deserve to take one in the shoulder but visitors that are not warned about the dangers of rolling at night in big trucks and four runner's with limousine tint should be warned of the on going troubles.....If they make a Jaws 4 Mexico it would be about the local boosters not telling tourists about the narcos because let's face it the corrupt mexican fisheries dept. have watched as 90% of the fish have been wiped out since 1955

I'm sorry everybody, that is just a stupid post, so myopic in thought ....geez
I guess the negative thoughts are stronger and better than the reality. However over 4000 people came from all over the USA and 8 other countries to Mexico from last Wednesday to today ( a few folks are still leaving) They came and ate, drank like fishys, partied to all hours from the Malecon to JJ's and everything else in between. They stayed in private homes, hotels and condos, some even camped right on the beach. I would think that if the numbers were in Jerrys favor most would be walking home(as in stolen trucks) as I saw a lot of desirable trucks with dark windows pulling nice toys lots of pretty girls around and they all got home safe (or will in the case of those still here) the reports they are sending in are all awesome and positive, pretty good information I would say. Apparently the "sharks" scare wasn't for this weekend.
The comparison of the "movie" Jaws and Rocky Point the "boosters" versus the "Law" is funny. Jaws never happened in reality, it was a movie that was designed to scare people. It was fantasy. It closely resembles some of the tripe I read on this forum by a select few. You can be a smart traveler and still be a "booster" a term coined to discredit others. You can't stop people from getting into trouble just by posting the crime that happens between criminals if that was the case then you have to take the credit of being wrong when the above mentioned reality took place.
Despite the activity that took place between the junkies on the Mirador thousands came saw partied and left. They had a great time just like the folks in Scottsdale who weren't affected by the crimes going on in Scottsdale between thugs while they were at the restaurants and bars living their life.
Anyone who drives after 1 am in any town, is in danger. Satan comes out after 1am
It may be safer to drive in Mexico after 1:AM than it is in Phoenix with all of our drunk and wrong way drivers on the freeways. I tell my kids that nothing good happens on the roads after midnight so stay off of them.
You of course did not answer the question.
I do value that site and thought the star story was a good one.Hiding the truth for immediate gain is tempting but in the long run it is better to solve problems not ignore them.I have had a few real scares in the last 18 months, had a few friends ripped off in bad deals in the last 7 years, think overdeloping a small town with borderline 3rd world infrastructure is a mistake too...guess what? RCMP boys agree with me....

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police agree, with you? Amazing how connected you are! Still Jerry just a fantasy! Jaws 7 (your name here)
The crazy thing for me is that I was in that Circulo K exactly 2 weeks earlier at about 950pm on a Friday night ALONE. Not unlike many other times in the last 9 years. Although I avoid driving at night as much as I used to, there are still going to be times when you cant leave Phoenix until later in the day and you take a realistic probability and just go. However, it's still crazy to think about.
Russ, you crack me up.
Lastly, I agree with Jerry. You dont want to get wacked over mistaken identity. The worst thing you can do in my opinion is drive around in Mexico with a truck/suv with super tinted windows...
A tourist vehicle has been machine gunned in the last three months after they panicked and tried to blow by a Cartel check point....I cannot give out more info at this time except it was hit seven times and a bullet just missed the passenger....
This and everything I had said is true. The real number of dead(last 3 months) in our border to coastal area in the battle for the Plaza and the seabourne smuggling to baja is over 100.Some of these are not just gangster killing gangster but people in the wrong place at the wrong time. When the facts of the this story come out the two things that comes out of it looking good are one really brave guy that stepped up and the build quality of the Toyota Four runner..just kept going ...as lives were at stake....

Yes Sir, would not drive down Caborca area if you paid me, That's why i'm for the cruise ships taking me down south, driving just get you in trouble, ask Kenny, when will the story be out on the 4 runner?
Maybe, but I for one wouldn't want to blow through a checkpoint with masked men armed with AK-47's to find out what would happen. No doubt they would open fire on my dumbass.
Speaking of Pithaya, a friend of mine that dives, says he seeing big schools of snapper within casting distance of the beach and several grouper in about 10 feet of water...all between the old elegante boat ramp and the Pithaya...

Carnac,
Is it possible to use the ramp if you pay PDO a few bucks? I went about 4 years ago with the guy that owns/owned Kayak Rocky Point and we gave the guy like $5 in the PDO office and they unlocked the gate and let us launch there. It was the first time I'd ever fished over there. The water clarity that day was 30 feet and you can see why it would be a good place to snorkel/dive. We paddled out to a rock that is about 3/4 - 1 mile out... I've always wanted to go back but Im always by myself and being handicap its really impossible to fish anywhere but Cholla Bay for launching reasons.
Joe, I stopped at the PDO office, and talked to Jerry. He said the ramp was closed, because it had deteriorated and couldn't be driven on.. Then I mentioned it was a kayak again and he said for $10.00 you could try to launch, but only with some help, because he didn't want anybody driving on the ramp...Then as I was leaving, he said $5.00 would be enough....You might go look and see if it will work for you...I mention in another post a couple weeks ago we caught 4 small grouper casting from shore, maybe 1 1/2 to 2 pounds ea...between the San Rafael trailer park and the ramp at playa elegante

Thank you! I might be coming down this weekend if I can get this fish finder working... Boo Bar dive shop squad is doing a day trip down to Lobos to dive and I wouldnt mind tagging along with my kayak so maybe fishing in Rocky Point and then one day in Lobos... OJALA!
Watched a guy a couple of weeks ago back his truck right into the big hole in the boat ramp at PDO. He knew it was there, he just wasn't far enough to the one side of it to miss it. Just the passenger side back tire went in, but it went in with a bang! It is a real hazard, especially when it's covered by water and you can't see it. Last time this happened, big hole in the ramp, they just filled it in with concrete. Don't know what they're going to do this time.......
