Some of this family, still reside in Trincheras, http://www.my-familyhistory.com/16464/29701.html The Grijalvas of North Beach fame, are also from Trincheras.

They have a monument to him at the entrance to town,they based Zorro on him and later Batman was created by a guy from Brooklyn who loved Zorro.. Just changed it from a fox yo a bat...good 15 mile road...no potholes.....

I did some research a few years ago after visiting the town of Trincheras. If you Goggle Trincheras you will come up with lots of Archaeological stuff. There are trincheras all over Sonora. Lots of speculation as to what they actually were but little is known. All are similar in that they are walls or shelves that wrap around a hill. The town being named after the one located there. I recall Ariel shots and even GPS locations.

It is a must visit place but in the heat it would be a rough hike

They have left evidence of their passing in Arizona and New Mexico, USA, and Chihuahua, Mexico also.

The shell collection areas behind Santo Tomas show signs of a past collection effort on a huge scale.We have found some amazing stuff( and put it back)
