Spot a deal on a classic on Craigs list, learned some hard earned lessons on say a LandRover...or have a new toy...post it here..
The 2015 Honda Pioneer 500 is a nice ride.It fits in the back of my pickup..no hassling with a trailer. This is great along the Coastal highway as a friend can drop you thirty miles from nowhere and you head to the outback. The 500 had a transmission not belt drive which is great if you have ever snapped a belt below high tide line in the middle of nowhere. It goes about 150 miles on a fill up.It climbs like a goat.Unlike it's big brothers goes great on sand dunes and not a racer but goes 40 mph all day.We drove it up the gap over the back side of Mount Lemon to Cascabel and it can take any terrain. they cost 9 k but are hard to get.Anyone that drives one wants one.
That looks way too nerdy for the PP crowd. Saw a couple with their matching whatever the were. Fast, loud and colorful with drivers kitted out like a jet fighter pilot. Bet the neverleave the pavement, town cruisers.
This is my beast of choice. Meet The Green Machine. Honda TRX300 Four Trax 2WD. Recently upgraded with the deluxe utility/Fishing Milk crate complete with padded Fishing rod tube that will hold 2-7ft rods. And 2- 1.5 " vertical rod holders for easy set up and or hands free fishing.
I have driven countless off road trails from the Mirador to the vacant beaches far north of Cholla and all the way out to the North side oyster farms at the estuaries, and it will do 40mph on the highway. It will motor right up Comp hill with easy and gets terrific gas mileage.
It is great for throwing the wife on and cruising the Malecon as well.
I am one with the earth on the green machine and have absolute faith in it's abilities. Having an electric start and shaft drive, it starts instantly and gets me where I want to go every time.
Did I mention it has a tow hitch and matching trailer but is capable of launching the boat in the background!

Bob this thing is just great...it does look a little too practical to get a decent Bro Ho

Go Green Machine.
I have a 99 Honda rancher 4wd and a 2008 2wd honda( red one in whale pic)...it is fast as hell but down in that silty sand after tide has gone out at Desemboque it has nearly gotten stuck....the rancher plows right through.....I would like to take my old Furgeson tractor down but tough to cross, the polaris bigboss with dump bed is a real workhorse and old ones can be picked up for 2500 bucks or so.Joes Prerunner is a nice ride,I am still waiting for the diesel motorcycle with a generator that is coming out from India....Scott's Old Bronco works great too but all and all I think Kenny's Mid 90s Jeep Cheeroke is tough to beat.I would have posted a pic but my soon to be finished version of a bicycle popcorn platform for Garys new business needed a square.
Yeah hitting that silt is a trick, I like to keep enough air in the ties for street and hard pack running but when I hit Sandy beach I have to let air out then no problem.
It always cracks me up when those guys go up comp hill on their raptors as if you need a tricked out ride and I go right up behind them with my fishing poles and milk crate laughing at them like whats the big deal. Speaking of Costco, great deals on quad tires there. I got the rears on the 250 recon for the same price as 1 on amazon and they get here in 3-4 days.
Hopefully I can get the boat ready to go down before summer, that 300 has a tow hitch and can launch it from the beach, probably....
You pickin' on Raptors? Guess I'm guilty since I have one in my fleet. 0 to 140 mph in less than sixty seconds, 110 mph up a sandy wash in 4 wheel drive, front and rear locking differentials, all stock right off of the sales lot at Ford! They do get stuck though. Last weekend we were climbing out of a wash with a thousand pounds of gravel in the bed and got belly balanced on an eight foot bank. All four wheels were locked in and up in the air turning above four two foot deep holes. Lucky I had a shovel with me.

No no, just saying that with a lot less money, motor, looks and effort the Green machine can go where they go. Definitely NOT as fast though. LOL.
I wouldn't kick one out of my back yard! Vaaarooommmmm.

I think he was originally referring to a YAMAHA RAPTOR. Anyhow, I'll take a 4 link Tacoma over a Raptor anyday. I love when I see 55 year old ladies driving Ford Raptors around town...

Yeah those fifty-five year old broads are pretty hot. Especially to an 80 year old, old fart.

What is the cut off age for driving a Ford Raptor?
Kenny and I have gotten to some good spots with his jeep and my rancher.I had a chance to pickup this ex forrest service Hummer but passed....sort of want a horse again but hope the urge goes away
The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is making a pretty good name for itself as it demonstrated in the 2014 Baja 1000. Though the Tundra finished 69th overall, it took first place in the Full Size Stock class. Post-race, the Tundra was driven 1,000 miles back to the US-Mexico border.

When you have absolutely no fucking idea of what you're sitting on. If you don't know what a DOUBLE BYPASS is then please don't buy one. You don't need 2.5 coilovers and double bypass to drive around town. It sucks because it's kind of the sell out truck now in desert racing. Sorry but if you're a lady and you're over the age of 50 you should NOT be driving a 6.0 Raptor. Get the broad a CL Benz.
Jim, you obviously seem to know what you're talking about and living in San Diego gives me the idea that you know about off road racing which is why this comment is absolutely fucking ridiculous. "WANNA BE" trucks, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK A FORD RAPTOR IS?! Certainly a "wanna be" factory Ford that EVERYONE can buy. Sorry sir but you're wrong. The two most popular BUILT trucks are Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. Bottom line, end story.

I didn't even know Ford had something called a Raptor. I am not a Ford guy though. Me likuh duh GMC vehicles. But I don't offroad in anything with doors.
I would be afraid of scratching that thing. Nice looking though.
The last Ford pick up I drove was in 1986, in Idaho on the farm. It was a 1976 F150 I think and it was very cool. It had only been driven to the end of the fields and back into the barn everyday.
This is the beast. 1985 Chevy blazer k5 running gear, 1970 Nissan Patrol cab sans doors, 1988 Chevy luv bed. Runs the stock 350 motor with AT zero weight lots of hp point and go technology. Like there is nothing this thing can't climb. In a future life I will raise it a bit more and put bigger tires on it and disk brakes on the rear.
Geo tracker 4 wheel drive air cond heater goes up sand hill beach runs no prob. If I want to go fast I will just put the old sand rail back on the beach but the Geo only cost $1700 my Rino cost $12000 use the Geo every day. Have to admit I did have to put a few more bucks into it.
4 runner 2015 looks cool....friend bent his frame the first time he used his new ford Raptor.they figured out he had done something to allow the truck to go faster than the 100 mph it set to and he had to pay for the frame repair on his own dime...

Hey Joooooooooooooooooooooe..........................................you are a bullshitter without a clue.
I live in Yuma, not SD.
I'll bet I do more off roading in a week than you do in a year.
I own, at the moment 47 4WD vehicles ranging from WWII Willys MB's and Ford GPW's, as well as CJ-2A's, CJ-3A's CJ-3B's, CJ-5's, Wrangler Rubicons, Willys Utility Trucks and Wagons, Ford F-350 4x4 Crew Cab Dualie, Ford F150 Raptor, M38, M38A1, M715 5-Quarter Truck, M151 MUTT, M151A2 MUTT, M422 Mighty Mite and a FC-150 Willys Truck.
I've built and restored more USA made off road vehicles than your little piss ant Jap Krap wet dreams could ever imagine. I'll bet you'd give your left nut to own a Ford Raptor especially if you could afford one. The trucks in your photo gallery are the typical shit of piss poor teenagers, that's if they are lucky enough to even own a vehicle.
You also seem to have a problem with your elders, like a little f'n respect for someone that has been there and done that!
Once again for folks who plan to relocate to Penasco in the future: most of the well meaning persons/posters on this topic, with their vulgar language, are occasional tourists from small towns in USA, or who live somewhere else in Mx, supposing and dreaming they could ever find a financial way to live here. They are giving advice, bragging about their Az toys, etc, etc., with no idea what is drivable on the streets day to day.
When you get ready to move here, ask around with locals what is the best and safest to drive day to day.

Jim stop teasing me. I'll bet my left nut that I could own a luxury prerunner for 60k and would never buy a Ford Raptor REPLICA PRODUCTION VEHICLE. Not to say that it isn't a cool truck as I PREVIOUSLY GIVE CREDIT TO THAT, HOWEVER for any practical purposes should be left to drive by 55 year old fake titted broads with too much money like your wife. YOU EVER HEARD OF STEWART RACEWORKS? My truck gets the wheel travel of a Ford Raptor and it costs about 50k less. My left nut gives 0 fucks about any of the vehicles you mentioned above because they make my dick soft.
By the way, before you start running your mouth about my buddy's piss poor teenage Ford Ranger, it was fabricated by one of the leading automotive creation specialists in the SW, you know, LOCALMOTORS the creators of the RALLY FIGHTER. That POS truck that you're talking about has about 25K of FAB work done to it and we're not teenagers OLD MAN.

Ok, anyone thinking about moving to PP make sure that what ever you drive day to day has good suspension. Any stretch of actual asphalt will have an unavoidable pot hole, and at some point in time you will be on a dirt road.
Fuel economy is secondary considering that unless you live out of town or are heading out of town there is nothing more than 3 or 4 miles in any direction that you would be driving to and from in town.
And with her latest statement it is completely apparent that JWT knows nothing about the "locals". The "locals" that actually have vehicles only have what they can afford and can cram as many people as possible into. Very few have choices.
The ones that have a choice that aren't driving a vehicle that is for their occupation choose form over function, what ever gets the most looks on the drag on Sunday nights! And don't forget the Jukebox in the trunk.
The "locals" have no concern about parking their Honda Accord on a sandy beach after off roading down a desert trail. If they get stuck someone with a 4wd and a rope will drag their ass out. And they will do it again. They drive where ever they can with what ever they have. Most have no other choice.
I guarantee JWT does not associate with the real "locals" in PP unless she has them putting gas in her vehicle or paying a cashier at a local business.

Joe the idea Jim can own all those vehicles on a retired goverment man salary raises a few warning flags.Jim Did you flash the old badge at the Lukeville crossing with a few trunk full of M16s for the cartel or something?

Hmm....need to borrow one to run down a snotty real estate hustler working out of Rocky Point...think the M715 might be a bit much...maybe the Ford Raptor the Mazda Miata of the geezer truck world.....everyone over 55 just looks sort of gay in them for some reason
Ever hang out with Good-Ol-Boys just BS'n about their Good-Ol-Toys???
I really don't think Joe has any plans for dukin it out with me when we meet face to face? Maybe some more BS'n whilst downin a couple dozen Pacificos after some high speed sandbox fun.
So are you retiring from "THE CHURCH" in SLC? If so RP is not for you. Better try Provo or Orem. RP is one of the last places left where lots of folks can go and let it all hang out and accept the fact that if you don't like what your'e looking at maybe you ought'a just look the other way. And as for my "vulgar language" that just happens to be the way we talk out here in what's left of the politically incorrect Wild West.
And Jerry, I quit the GUBMINT when all the worthless wierd-o's were forced upon us by Affirmative Action, just look where we are today, how's that Creedence CC song go...Clowns in the White House..... or something like that?

Flame on.
Ja ja ja ja. Now now not those locals it's the OTHER locals she is talking about.

Oh no not the... OTHERS!
This is the reality of what goes on in Puerto Peñasco, lol. I got this last march out exploring we came upon this seen. The kid driving the lead Jeep couldn't have been 19 but his Jeep was a badassed machine.
Some guy with a new Jeep Recon got caught playing in the estuaries north Cholla Bay and the tide came in. It didn't have 10k miles on it yet.
Pics of my Brother-in-laws Subaru custom on the trailer behind my Trailblazer and a shot of the quads and our other buddy's Subaru custom that they built out by JJ's.
Guy in service at The Honda dealership in Tucson told me this mercenary weekend business plan he practiced in the boom years: arrive in RP on high tide weekends and take his pretty serious jeep to the beach.Locate someone stuck below high tide line and wait around as the the tide approached .They see him and ask for help and if they have another vehicle he offers to rent his tow rope for 50 bucks,if not the price varied between 100 and 200 depending on how close the tide was getting.Money in hand after being cussed out for a bit he would use the snap method to jerk them out......he always came home with money in his pocket....the jerk!
Who'd a thunk a thread about trucks could get so... so... emotional. o_O
I'll see all your vehicles and raise you my ol' Scout. I restored this beast from the ground up and it spent mucho time on the beaches of RP and San Carlos. Wish I still had it. It had to go bye-bye when I divorced in 1995. Yes, I cried. :(

This might be hell on earth. Semana Santa en Lobos. Unless of course you are connected, have half a rock of cocaine in your pocket and a bud light in your right hand. Then it's just old fashioned fun.
Roberto, as always good work. Love the video. Almost makes me want to be a Jeep guy... until the guy with the 42 said all the guts were Toyota and then I came to my senses. Loved the older couple that aged 4 years with that drop. I hope to be them someday, what a lovely couple.
I figured this thread is getting pretty good so I'll up the ante.

Exactly what is wrong with being a 50+ woman and driving exactly what she wants to. I could say the same thing about men! For someone who does not like to be discriminated against you seem to have no problem disrespecting women:mad:

Luna, I have a mom and a sister and both are empowered women. I am a liberal as you should know being the fine forum member that you are and I vote for women's rights. You are apparently taking this personal as you are missing the point entirely. It shows me that you have no idea of anything that I am talking about specifically concerning the Ford Raptor. Once again, if you can answer what a DOUBLE BYPASS is then I would consider allowing myself to consider allowing you to drive what you want. The problem does not lie within you or women's rights. The problem lies within Ford Motor Company who intelligently took the looks and performance of an off-road performance truck and made it Factory off the line available to the public. My point is, the women that I see driving these trucks around Phoenix have absolutely no fucking idea what is under the truck and I'm not talking about the engine. People pay good money to build these trucks and to see some 50 year old big titted Scottsdale broad driving the truck is frankly disrespectful to any serious off-road enthusiast. Sorry.

Well I assume that you are referring to the high performance shocks that control the suspension of the vehicle in all type of terrain and not the heart surgery;). Either way YOU do not have the right to allow me anything. So yes, I took your comment personally because I felt you could make your point just as well without your particular statements about women in general, not necessarily women's rights. I do not drive a Ford, but I do have family members in Detroit that work for Ford. I am over 50 and have great big titties which are all natural baby! So lets just agree to disagree on this, after all opinions are like assholes, we all have one. :)
Nope, do not drive a Ford, but do drive a truck. Apparently I totally misunderstood your comment (my blonde must be showing) ~ LOL! :)
Are you kidding? Of course I had a image of you and your best friend bouncing along the beach together, maybe even
frolicking..LOL And then I remembered your hubby, as you call him.:(

And more importantly.. where does one meet these high maintenance, high performance Scottsdale gold diggers?
Well after using this Honda 500 for the last 6 months in really rough ground I can report it is one tuff little guy.....Goes 40 mph climbs like a goat, has never overheater and fits in the back of a 6.5 foot pickup bed...no stinking trailer needed(attachment 7491 not found)
Mine is a four door, used to be metallic gray, now permanently branded with ten thousand creosote bush racing stripes. Been through two front windshields and three rear windows all from operator induced hard landings.
My last trip from Yuma to RP on the Coastal Road was less than two hours with an average speed of 120 mph.
I issa be noa wanna be.
PS didn't you see me and my little F-350 in front of Reggies a few weeks ago?

It's been 5 or 6 weeks and yes I did tell the forum that I met you outside of Reggies... well... actually OXXO but nevertheless yes, right there.
