Any of my RP Professional Pro's know if the inshore flounder have started arriving? I thought it was safe to assume that they start arriving in November. Thinking about a quick turn and burn. Would like to have a probability beforehand. Thanks in advance! As always...
How long does 'Flounder Season' go? We will be down over Christmas for 2 weeks.
I caught a nice one in Kino from my kayak last thanksgiving, it hit on a silver spoon after bouncing it off a rocky shoreline into a deep pool and reeling. It was exciting! And tasty!

I've seen them displayed at JJ's boat launch from Nov-March. Yep, very tasty.
Flounder is one of my favorites. We buy it at Sea Products frozen and bread it and fry it in canola oil. Yum! The medium filets are a little over $3 a pound ($100 pesos/Kilo) and worth every penny. Here is a photo of their prices taken a couple of weeks ago.
There is a nice sandy area just west of Pinto Point in Cholla. You can see it on google maps. I alway thought if I was a flounder that's where I would hangout.
Friend caught what he thought was probably a 10 pounder. He thought it was a big ray till he got it up. He says also look for a deep spot and that's where they hang out.
I thought it was too windy New Year's eve for boating so I hit La Pinta estuary after high tide. Found numerous flounder close to shore and kept a few. They were predominately females with immature egg sacs developing. Great way to end 2014! Using silver spoons retrieved very slowly. Tight lines to everyone in 2015!!!
That's weird. I've posted a million photos on this site using photo bucket but I never knew that you could see the whole album!!! LOL good thing I dont have any FOTOS MALAS in there!!! or at least I dont believe I do... how embarrassing! Thanks WAHOO!!! haha
On the subject of the avatar, thank you! I found it about 4 years ago and I loved it so much that I had it tattooed on the greater part of my upper right arm. I love everything Dia de los Muertos. I think that started in 7th grade Spanish class.
Have been lucky to get "Pargo" as shrimp by catch. Sweet pictures
Would love to catch a Pargo one day out of the kayak. Leigh said they used to be thick in the water off of the North side of the lighthouse in Lobos but are hard to catch these days.
Saturday and Sunday in waist high water at low tide in Cholla Bay. Caught about 15 of these flatties.
Save a few for me, Cholla Derby coming up in a couple of weeks. LUCKY CHUCKY might be mad if he found out that you fished his spot without asking for his blessings.
