We travel every where with our radar. Is crossing over with it in the car going to be a big "no no". Or should we just leave it back home. We have never been out of the country with it before.

I have used the Radar in my car for the last ten years in Mexico without a problem.
bluepenguin
I also use one with no problems

Good to hear, we travel the country with our daughter's soccer club and it has become a valuable item for us. Would hate to have it taken at the border.

Seldom to never will you see a speed trap on open highway in Mexico. I used to have my radar detector at all times, but never bother anymore. Some of the patrol cars have radar on while driving, but they blast it and you can pick it up several miles away. I thought my detector had gone goofy, but a few minutes later, sure enough, a fed police car headed in the opposite direction.

Your radar detector will do you no good for the ticket your most likely to get, aka 'The Sonoyta Revenue Enhancement Project." They sit at the edge of town with an instant on gun and shoot you as you come over the rise where the speed limit drops to 40 km., then just wave you over as you approach. Ask many here that had to cough up the $40 bucks or so for this infraction.

The Ajo Revenue Enhancement Project is worse than Sonoyta!

I almost got nailed just on the north side of Ajo yesterday coming home. He was sitting way farther north than normal - where it goes back to 65. I was doing 8-85 passing a car in front of me and saw him at the last second and I thought for sure he was going to chase me down, but he never moved. I think he was probably looking at Facebook on his phone! :p

Well he got somebody pulled over as I passed that area yesterday coming home!

They are illegal to use in MX. We always have ours but turn it off while we cross the border and take it off the dash. Turn it back on when out of Sonoyta.

They have got smarter in the US. If they are parked or maybe driving they leave them off until they can nail you... Direct from a horses mouth...

Between Buckeye and Gila Bend on 85 the DPS uses a stopwatch and not radar or laser. They caught me doing 80 in a 65. My Escort radar/laser did not help. Also spoke with a lawyer and he said the stopwatch trick "holds up well in Arizona" Beware folks.

I too have been popped. Never saw it coming, too complacent. 84 in a 55 zone. Now I also look out for a decoy who is speeding and tag along behind that driver.

We call those decoys "probes." As they occasionally speed by us in, say, Ajo, we announce, "Launching probe!"

Good one! I have always thought your friends should be shorter, fatter and slower then yourself. And if in the ocean, also bleeding.

I heard the same thing if the Mex. Cops stop you and you have your radar on it will cost you $40.00 so remove it quick of you get stopped
