Went with group of 9 to newly opened Satisfied Frog at end of Malecon. Wonderful location and we had a great waitress named Nancy. Food was very good but it took over 30 minutes from when first person was served until last person was served. We are not a big drinking group but bottle beer seemed high at $4. Will give them another try with a smaller group after they get the kinks worked out.
We were there too with a small group and were not that impressed. It is a nice spot but for a grand opening it was very disorganized, we waited for drinks for quite awhile and even though they boadt a 16oz drink for $5, it was full of ice and i mean to the top. We too thought $4 @ beer was pricey...more than being in the usa. We were first quoted $3 but when when brought to table they were $4. We didnt eat,so cant comment on food.

I think their official opening is Feb. 14 and this past weekend was to get some of the bugs out of the system - need to have consistent pricing and better pricing.
Went there tonight and I have to say that this was the worst meal I have ever had in PP. There was a group of 10 and we ordered pizza and the ribs. The beef ribs were very short but had a good flavor but not really smoked, just a lot of sauce. The pizzas came out in a hap hazard fashion and they were either burned on the bottom or not done at all. The margaritas were small and did not taste like any margarita I have ever had. The music speakers sit on the floor right in front of dining tables making it impossible to converse at your table. As a former restaurant owner in Cave Creek, the owner needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with a good menu rather than loud music and mediocre food. We will not be going back and if things don't change, the frog will not be there next year. It is a good location but everything else ruined the dining experience.
Just came from there with HIGH hopes. Love the location. Always loved Ed's former products, and his son's place in Black Canyon City. A gorgeous Saturday afternoon, sitting above the water and watching the pelicans and trawlers.
What a gigantic bummer! My house guests and I were hoping to dine and sip cocktails till past sunset. Nope. Apparently, they don't sell food and drink there. It was only about 15-20 percent full, and it still took forever to get a single round of drinks. Took no food order and didn't refill the round. One staff member was folding clever T-shirts while no one was getting served. The waitress never showed up again until we had to finally track her down for the bill. We would have spent $200+ if we'd been served, but dropped $20 instead and bounced down the malecon, where there are great dining and drinking options with spot-on service--Boo, con Flavio, Beach Bum, Mary's.
I likely won't bring guests there again; it was embarassing.
We drove by Friday night. No place to park with all the locals hanging out in the plaza. Drove back to the fenced lot at the entrance to the Malicon and walked to Boo Bar.
Hate to say I told you so, they are proven ultimate failures in the business. Go to beach bum or boo or Marys or sr amigos or especially blue Marlin if at the Malecon.
Amazing with more than a few great places on the Malecon, you better have good food/service and prices in place to wow your
new potential curious customers and keep them coming back.
Sounds like the frog is counting on reputation from days gone bye. And $4 beers, I don't think that will win anyone over.
As one of the owners of the Satisfied Frog I want to apologize to anyone who had a bad experience on opening weekend. No excuses and we have fixed the opening problems.
We,were there yesterday. In fairness they have a$2.00 beer so price complaints not valid. But service is bad, with limited command of English bad. Time to wait for beer then the check then get the one person on the register to take care of the waitress was stupid. Also watched "cook" bring pizza out of building to oven outside, pizza would not slide off tray to peel to slide in oven so he slid his hands under it and picked it up and put it on the peel. No gloves on hands and he picked something that fell off and ate it. Ed u need to have some serious training of the staff, you know better
Gave it a try over Spring break, we ordered a large 14" pepperoni pizza $15-16, a medium 12" cheese pizza, 2 bottles and 2 drafts beers and 1 order of wings
and that came to $48. Pizza had good flavor but the crust was underdone especially for a high temp wood oven. Service was a bit slow especially since
there were on 3 tables occupied.
Conclusion, Pricey, OK-decent food, slow service. = Other places I will spend my money.
I also tried Beach Bum that week and it was pretty good with good prices and semi slow service.
For what it is worth, a friend and I went there in February and the bartender made the best tasting Long Island Iced Tea I've ever had. About the same price as a Long Island using a well mix in the states. Didn't eat there, though. I'll go back this weekend just for a drink.
After Mermaids Market today we decided to try Crazy Eds for lunch. Have read the reviews here so were forewarned. Went anyway. Thought enough time had maybe gone by to have worked out the bugs. Only 2 tables already eating. Husband ordered wings and I ordered a hamburger. I even discussed with the very sweet waitress what came on the hamburger. Waited. Wings arrives timely enough, but sweet waitress looked at me in surprise and wondered if I had ordered anything!!! I said "hamburger". She was flustered, apologized, said it would be ready right away. Waited...waited..she brought me another beer...free, nice gesture...great but I really wanted my food. Waited. I ate half of husbands wings. Waited. Thinking that I have cooked lots of hamburgers in my life and it doesn't take this long. Finally arrived with nice waitress apology.. We took it to go. They really need to work on this. Food tasted ok, but service...??!!!! And they weren't even busy.
We were there Sunday, Ruthie is really trying to do her best. Very friendly and remembered our names from March 9. The problem is the management is not giving them the tools to do there job. Place was dirty windows are a mess, would have been a fantastic sunset, if we could have seen out of the windows. Ed you know better, its the little things that count. No management on site and again the staff needs some guidance and training.
Went to the Frog last Friday. I ordered the fish & chips since it was the Friday special and my wife ordered the fried chicken. The fried chicken, potatoes and gravy were great, so were the very cold beers. The fish on the other hand was some of the worst I've had. It looked wonderful when it came out but....big batter, thin mushy fillet that oozzed oil when you touched it. Mentioned it to the waitress, but it was still on the bill.
It's been almost a year that we started the Satisfied Frog. Contrary to what has been said above the Frog has been a resounding success. We installed a new manager in April, Rick Nichols, New help and new menu. Oh and All beer is $2.00 every day 7 days week. Fried Chicken mashed potatoes and gravy are to die do. So check out Face Book page and see what others are experiencing. https://www.facebook.com/TheSatisfiedFrog?ref=bookmarks
I find the menue very limited. I guess the $2 beer is the draw. Went in about a week ago. A decent crowd but far from mobbed. Waitress #1 came by and we ordered drinks. Wine came in a very small jelly jar. Waitress disappeared. Waved empty glass a bit and waitress #2 came by. Ordered more drinks and a pizza. Waited, waved again for another drink. Waitress still missing. Effusive and friendly owner wife, girlfriend or daughter came to the table. Told her I was having difficulty getting a drink. She took a look at the small jelly jar, made a comment and got a larger jelly jar with wine. We waited. Several pizzas came out. Looked for waitress #2 to check on the pizza, but she seemed to have disappeared. No pizza after a loooong wait. Waved down a gent who seemed to be in charge, owner or manager, who knows. Inquired about the pizza. He went to talk to the pizza guy, came by an apologized said the pizza would be next up. Got the pizza and it was just OK. To his credit he did not charge for the pizza but we did not enjoy the visit and prolly won't go back. So Ed, seems like you might have more adjusting to do here.

Agree Roberto, had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Waited for 2nd beer, pizza tasted burnt and smokey, and some guy taking pix to post on fb to show they customers ( lol ). Friend and I were actually rating pizzas, sorry guys you failed last on our list.
Restaurant business is tough, gotta have thick skin. Ed, thanks for being receptive to the feedback, it can't be easy. I'll be sure to stop in next time we're down and give your place a try.
I'm not in the business and I drink less than I used to, but I'll never understand the fiscal logic behind bars where you can't get a second drink. Even the fictional Sam Malone's rule was "No empty glasses on the bar."
I stand by my earlier review. There are great places up the Malecon where the staff are happy to sell you their product.
I've never wanted a burger in Penasco- beef and shrimp tacos, shrimp cocktails or fish. You can't get better than that. But this is good to know if I ever am down for a while and need Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Sorry about the fish, no excuses, All i can say is the manager should have been to your table to check and they would have caught that .........Send me your your e-mail address you have a FREE dinner coming...Please send to [email protected]
I take all criticism to heart and we work every day to make our place the best we can. Some people are going to like it and some are not no matter what you do. All I know is business is growing and every month has been better than the last one. In March we are adding an authentic mesquite wood smoker and BBQ will be on our menu. Some of you have made up your minds because of a bad experience a year ago, some just read something and decided we weren't worth going to visit. That's Ok choice is good but obviously someone likes us and we know from current feedback our food and drinks are reasonable and our service is improving. So we still have Cold Beer, Great drinks and awesome food at a reasonable price for Rocky Point. Sunday Fried Chicken at $12.00 for a whole chicken is a bargain but you better get there early.........I'ts Busy

I like the fact that you are here, addressing customer concerns and complaints. That takes a lot of balls. I have to say so far I have avoided it but when we come down in April I will stop in and check it out.

Me also, let's see what you got. I must admit I just bought a six pack of chili beer at total wine today to bring down to mi casa for spring break week.
When you go, try the fried chicken, and fried tequila- I see a pattern here. Fried chicken seems weird for Penasco, and I wouldn't eat that all the time, but it's really good for a change.
pollas lucas is the bomb...I would try your place but after seaside reservations people at Bella Sirena screwed me over 2 years in a row, then our Fishing charter lady I book through completely blew me off as me and my kids sat on the dock, I wont be going back to Rocky Point for a while...;Good luck on your restaraunt

I am hearing good things now about Satisfied Frog, Is it open during winter season? This is now on our "to try" restaurant list , unfortunately for us we can't make it back to Puerto Peñasco until February (last Feb. Quite a few restaurants were closed, understandably if its too slow to turn a profit but good to know where to plan on going)
February is the high season for restaurants as that is when the most gringos are here. Many restaurants close for extended periods in the summer. While you are in the vicinity of the Satisfied Frog also try the Maria Bonita Restaurant in the back of the Vina Del Mar Hotel next door. Great Mexican and Seafood and the service is fantastic.

Thanks! Sooooo good to know! One of the restaurants that were closed last Feb I am now remembering was being remodeled (Emiliano's at the Sonora Sun) we did get to try that chef's restaurant that is now where Don Julio's used to be on Fremont, I believe it's called Hacienda Las Fuentes, and it was DELICIOUS! I wasn't too fond of Don Julio's food but loved the place so just a heads up if anyone wanted to try it.
I have heard a lot about Mary's so we will probably try that too, what are the prices like there? Do you suggest breakfast, lunch or dinner? We'll definitely be hitting the Satisfied Frog at late lunch dinner time due to how the atmosphere seems.
Thanks! We actually tried there a couple weeks ago after reading great reviews and we were pretty impressed, great prices too for what you get we will definitely be back there
Hold on there just one effen minute please............
Had a FANTASTIC dinner there this past Friday night. Got ONE order of the Friday special that included beef ribs, pork ribs, fried chicken, breaded fish, breaded shrimp and french fries at EIGHTEEN DOLLARS!!
Two of us could barely eat half of it. Had enough leftovers for lunch on the beach the next day. Those guys have the BEST ribs in town PERIOD! They are not kidding when they advertise the best magaritas in town either.
Made with real liquor, not the watered down jug of yellow tinted toilet bowl cleaner used at every other place in town. The only other joint with alcohol in their mixed drinks is the Mayan Palace poolside bar. We always stop there on the way back from the desert or Southern beaches for a good buzz for the final leg home. Mrs. Willy usually orders vodka on the rocks which is supposed to be two or three ice cubes covered with straight vodka right from the bottle, which is exactly what the Frog brings you. Try gettin that from any other place in PP. I call em Mormon Mixers, just like what you get from the "bar" at Applebee's, Red Robin, Red Lobster or Olive Garden, God Forbid that you might walk out of one of those joints a little tipsy.
Let's talk atmosphere now, at the Frog you can actually talk to the person sitting next to you, not scream at each other over the maxed out sound from four or more big screens with all forms of moronic ball games going on that no one even looks at. Not to mention the maxed out Mexican Rap music blasting from dozens of speakers all over the place.
We did last New Years Eve there as well, our very first time at the Frog. They were totally packed that night with reserved tables but let us in anyways, we got a small table next to the entertainers right at the front door. After only an hour or less the light weights started leaving and we got two stools at the bar. We stayed till they shut down the next morning. Ate some of the best ribs ever, can't recall how many drinks we put down and paid only 100 bucks for the night. Musta' been good since the Mrs. Willy slipped and broke her leg on the way out of the place. The waiters even carried her to our truck!
The last time we had anything that came near their stuff was the barbecue place long gone now across from good old Wow-Wow's.
If any of you dare check em out, ask for the waiter Julian, he will take care of you!

I visited there for the first time this week. Not my kind of food . . . But I will say that the margaritas are almost as good as those at Casa Del Capitan. (Oh, and some previous Del Capitan servers are behind the counter.)
