Thinking about making a quick trip down this weekend, but wanted to see anyone knew if the government shutdown was affecting border crossing.

This from the Washington Post this morning...

There are a whole bunch of key government functions that carry on during a shutdown, including anything related to national security, public safety, or programs written into permanent law (like Social Security).

Here's a partial list:

Any employee who conducts "essential activities to the extent that they protect life and property." So, for example: Air traffic control stays open. So does all emergency medical care, border patrol, federal prisons, most law enforcement, emergency and disaster assistance, overseeing the banking system, operating the power grid, and guarding federal property.

Awww, I was hoping there would be zero wait at the border and all the border agents were sent on vacation/furlough. LOL

Could put some of that lead tainted salsa on the sandwich.

If that happened crossing north would be jammed, jammed, jammed. Lots of big trucks with a particular odor.

This should put them all in a great mood:

They don't pay the Border Patrol to protect our country but clearly are paying for their security.

"The United States Capitol is in lockdown, the Associated Press reports. Shots were reportedly fired outside the Capitol Thursday afternoon. A shooter is reportedly in custody.

The sequester caused us to lose one ranger by my ranch and stopped the gate at Chiricahuas monument to be unmanned letting cartel smugglers come in to drop off mules...the result:http://www.willcoxrangenews.com/news/article_31a256c2-106e-11e3-89db-001a4bcf887a.html
