What do you think the govt will do for those languishing in the pokey for possesion of smaller amounts? I predict a lawyer's bonanza of law suits and request for re-trials as the Govt will do nada unless pressured.

The criminal code that most states adhere to says that existing sentences are not overturned by a change in the underlying law.

However, the Governor of any state has the provision to grant a pardon, and it was this judicial authority that was exercised en masse when prohibition was repealed in 1933

In Arizona and New Mexico many times it was the family business.You grew up in it and really did not have much choice.The prisons are full of guys like that...15 year plus for kingpin charges when they just were part of a group dynamic that was impossible to quit.

Not really...usually guys in the trades with family on each side.You are born into it and make the best of it.
