Our car was stolen from near the Granada Hotel on the Mirador. We were snorkeling and when we got out of the water our car was gone. It is a 2012 Black Ford Mustang. It has Oklahoma tags on it and two bumper stickers on the back. One is an Obama Sticker and one is a picture of four Native American Chiefs. If you see it, please let me know or call Rosy and the police. Thank you.
I put it on a tourist guide group page from Caborca....they know people everywhere in Sonora and are always driving around. The fear I would have is it is in a chop shop in Puerto Penasco.
Most Ford products, including the Mustang, have all been equipped with a passive anti theft system (since model year 2000) which protects against drive away theft without a properly coded key. Either the culprits had a key or they used a tow truck to steal the vehicle.

Because many Fords are built in Mexico now, I was told by the Mexican locksmith when my F-250 was nearly stolen, that many master keys have walked out of the factory and are out on the streets. In my case, they jammed a key into the ignition, but it broke off without starting the truck and the scumbag trying to steal my truck fled. We later watched it on hotel video and he was in and out of the truck in under two minutes.
I still highly recommend an anti-theft device, NOT an alarm system. You can search this forum for Ravelco or google Arizona Ravelco. The simplest yet most effective solution to vehicle theft.
Intense police activity along Calle 13 this morning, maybe they saw your car?
I would love that. They were terrific yesterday - as were Ericka and Daniel from the SSea and Rosy, of course. Everyone was great - and I am sure they are looking for it.
Thanks to Ericka, Daniel, Israel, and Jesus! WE FOUND THE STOLEN CAR!!! It was a joy-ride and almost everything is still in the car!! The Puerto Penasco Police Force was amazing! We can pick up the car in the morning - PP has been totally professional and helpful. One more reason to love it here!!!

So glad it all worked out well! Could have happened anywhere, and the police may NOT have been as helpful somewhere else!
Whew, thats great news and I could hear the sigh of relief all the way up here in Prescott. Long shot but maybe you know a friend of mine from our Cherokee Indian Nation in Oklahoma, Roger Johnson?

I don't think so, Kenny. Where does he live? We are in Tulsa!

Was the Obama sticker still left on it or was it ripped off and burnt next to the found vehicle? lol
I need to say again how helpful and terrific everyone has been during this ordeal! People on social media, people we know a bit from our time here, friends here, Rosy, the police!! This has been handled in such a warm and wonderful way!! Someone mentioned that this wouldn't have necessarily been true in other places - that is very true indeed. So thank you to Puerto Penasco and the people who live here! Thanks.

So glad your sympathetic presence is back, Hooch. The Obama sticker was exactly where we had it, along with the Native American sticker that says "Fighting Terrorism Since 1492"

If I could have "liked" this post more than once, I would have!

Rogers in Skiatook and I think you'd like him...From Roger..
AN INTERESTING OBSERVATION
A review of the campaign donations of the Cherokee Nation candidates seeking to be re-elected or newly elected, reveals an amazing fact. Consider the following candidates, Jack Baker, Meredith Frailey, Don Garvin, Lonus Mithchell, Harley Buzzard, Sherri Doolin, Tamsey Dreadfullwater and Joe Adair. None of these are endorsed by Bill John Baker. In addition, if you add... all of the above 8 candidates campaign contributions together the sum does not even add up to just one of the candidates supported by BJB. So, what is to be learned here? The above candidates are being supported by the average Cherokee citizenship. The others, by BJB, wealthy businesses with return favors expected, The State and Federal Democratic Party, out of state interest and personal aids, all with expectations of financial gain. Who are you going to vote for?

Good news !! Was anyone able to determine how they got in and got it started?
That is good to hear that the PP police department was on top of this with speed and grace. Now only if they can find the snot that took it. I wont make a comment about the sticker. LOL!!!!

He'll if it wasn't for the 1492 terrorists you wouldn't have a Mexico beach house or a mexican people to spend your hard earned money on lol
To live without using your ability to discover, to learn, to facilitate positive change in the world, you are denying yourself the ability to live fully and leave the world better than you found it. Ignorance makes you part of the problem, knowledge makes you part of the solution. You Hooch, are part of the problem.
No Kenny I am the solution, ending stupidity where it started, oddly enough with your generation. Still lol about the 1492 terrisses lol learn your post and pre Colombian history before you spew your BS lol
My ancestors were here before Columbus or the Conquistadors and I know much about those times, but that's not my point...Thanks though, you proved once again that you're just off somewhere in la la land..
Hard to be angry at anything today at the beach...except that damn cloud....must yell at it
Yell up this way as well Jerry, but for rain. It was a little over a 100 today, but cloudy. We had a few drops a while ago but I don't think it's going to happen. Looking at 101 for tomorrow.

In case you didn't already know, there were people in Mexico before the 1492 terrorists. A very highly organized society as a matter of fact - apart from human sacrifice. Americans, Columbus, the Spanish and the rest of them didn't "DISCOVER" anything! It was already there! They just came to steal, rape and pillage! I'm sure your ancestors were one of them.

And the Spanish language came from where professor? Lol sweet **** if you wanna talk post Colombian history please remove your head from your ass. Thanks
So back to the car...as a guy who lives at a place (santo Tomas) where you can leave the keys in the Atv or car with no worries I never lock anything.....I bet is you left them under the floor mat...right?

No, in my beach cover-up on the beach while we snorkeled. Have done it before, won't do it again.

Sounds like it was someone who hangs around there a lot if they were bold enough to search through your stuff and knew which car it was. Were you parked in the lot behind the hotel or in the street?
I live a block from there and petty theft is prevalent in the area but police patroling is frequent too. I watch the bicycle riders scoping things out every morning and it's a favorite parking and entry point to the beach for the vendors, but I'm frankly surprised about the magnitude and boldness of this.

We were parked on the road leading to the hotel parking lot next to the wall. Only car there so it wasn't exactly hard to figure it out. I am sure he was looking for money and found the keys - should have left money instead!! Wonder if he realized there wasn't much he could do with the car in RP and abandoned it. Only had been driven a few miles. Took the owners manual and a GPS that doesn't work in Mexico, an iPhone, a bit of money, my drivers license, a snorkel and hairbrush in my beach bag- and my favorite coverup. Bag was black with little multi colored owls all over it - take note if you see one like that!

Same exact thing happened to me in the same spot back in 2007, July 4th weekend. My buddy and I met a few girls at Manny's and uuughh we went snorkeling too at 4am with the girls lol and the same exact thing happened. It happened on the beach right in front of the Pataya. Someone had gone through our shorts while my buddy and I were preoccupied. The person took the keys to my truck, money from me and my buddy's shorts, his cell phone and his shoes lol. I'm about 98% sure it was an inside job as the security guard for the Pataya was standing near bye and saw everything. He told us and the police that he knew the guy that took our stuff and we went on a little show me something scavenger hunt through town to no avail. The first thing we did was go to my truck so they couldnt steal it. It was parked at the BAJA Hotel up the street to the west. It ended up being a really long Saturday day, our wallets were stolen so no debit cards, we had to have western union money wired, walked all over town that day. My truck had a nice viper alarm with kill start if you dont use the two way pager remote, so getting the truck open took 23 seconds but getting a key made for the ignition and finding a way to bypass the kill switch on the alarm was fun. All of this on a Saturday, 100 degrees on a 4th of July weekend in 2007, still boozed up from the night before, hadnt gone to sleepp yet, my buddy with no shirt or shoes the whole day, finally got home to Cholla Bay at 4pm. NEVER left anything out of my sight ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS talk about fortitude, our clothes and belongings were no more than 30 ft from us!!!!!!

Well look on the bright side, atleast you still have your snorkel.
If there is someone walking down the road with makeup on breathing out of a snorkel brushing their hair and carrying a beach bag with owls on it. I will bet $100 US. thats the person who took the car.
For sh!ts and giggles, any one have any of the exploding ink packs the bank puts in the money? Leave him a load pair of shorts on the beach. The ink takes a long time to come off.
Joe, all you have to do is disconnect the alarm under the dash. just look at the wire with tape on it and cut. atleast that is how I turned mine off. installed at audio express. the alarm wouldn't shut off , so I popped the fuse panel open and there was a wire taped. I pulled it and wouldn't you know it ,off went the alarm. no more audio express alarms,Leigh

Ha! Joe hats off to you and your buddy but these are not quite the same incidents:
You Guys...........banging hookers at 4am while at the very least drunk on your ass.
Sheep3mom.......a middle of the day LaDeeDa beach trip.
The lesson of both stories? Wear one of those waterproof membranes....keeps your "valuables" safe from theft or in the first case infection too.

Hey Joe, you don't happen to be from Chicago?
Reason I ask, was wondering if you or your buddy had an "Obama for Community Organizer" on your car??
Well I'll put out at least a yellow alert on car theft in the Mirador. 2 blocks from Granada. Alarm went off in my vehicle last night, was after midnight. Could have been a short or something as I found no evidence of a break in but I was kind of in a hurry to turn the thing off. Got to the vehicle in maybe less than a minute. I'm pretty sure it does not have a vibration sensor, it is controlled on and off only with the auto lock remote. Put on the steering wheel to brake bar lock. That will slow them down at least.
Another thing that might work like the situation on the beach is to get one of those small portable motion sensor alarms from Radio Shack. Size of a cig pack and it is loud. Set it and slip it under something. I'm gonna get a battery for mine and keep it handy. Hmm who is up for some fun. We can do a set up down there, maybe trap the jerk.

The only way you're going to catch a fast running thief, is with a faster running meth head. If you can get one of those when you pick up batteries you are set for the sting.

LOL Jerry, fortunately I've been blessed with good genes and pretty good looks so I've never had to pay for the company of a woman. These were two very nice young girls from Georgia in Penasco for the first time and my buddy and I were going to give them that extra RP hospitality! It would have never happened but the PLAYA INN security guard wouldnt take a bribe to let us swim in the pool at 4am so the next best thing was the ocean down the street in front of PATAYA.... SMH the things we do for %#$$^

Joe at 4am either really good or really bad stuff happens....it is the a matter of luck....a friend knocked on my window at 4am a few years ago after twin black hookers ran off with his pants and his car keys after he dropped the old trousers at The creepy Tucson Inn honeymoon suite. He is a well known loco politician so he had me go back and break into his car and use his spare key(under the matt). busting a Lexus car window with a hammer is not easy...doing it at 4am,crack head central and driving 15 blocks to my place without the Po Po stopping me was like winning the quinella at Tucson Park.
