Hi gang,
A while back on here, there was a discussion on taxis. Someone said we should take only a taxi that was sanctioned by the city. They had some word or phrase printed on them. What was it, I can't remember? We will be taking a taxi this weekend and need to know. Thanks!

TAXI SITIO~~"Siempre es bueno preguntarle al chofer si sabe llegar a tu destino antes de abordar"

I use taxis very often, I just did the other day as a matter of fact. I never look for any certain type. I just stand on the corner and get picked up pretty quick. 20 pesos one way pretty much anywhere in town. Prices go up as you get to Sandy beach area though. From PDO to 13th street or Malecon should be 20 pesos!

How much do you think a taxi would cost from Sandy Beach to the Quinta Ventura salon the night of the Black & White Ball? I think it's located somewhere behind the WalMart.

A called out Taxi probably will set you back $20.00 If they are setting out in front of where you are staying it should be much less

If they are sitting out front you will set the price but you have to be reasonable. Don't let them charge for each passenger, set the price for the trip and load up the car. As for taxi that are sanctioned by the city, don't worry about it, it's Mexico.

Forgot the most important thing, GET THE PRICE UP FRONT! It's still Mexico

good to know - we'll need a taxi a few times over Thanksgiving weekend. we usually just go to PDO office and have Leo call one for us.

My WISH for 2013 is that somone start a "taxi service" using Ponga's with class bottoms like they do in Las Cabos. These "TAXI BOATS" go to the resorts (like Sandy Beach area) and bring people in to the Harbor, in our case the Melacon. It would free up parking and give a little thrill for a family. The Las Cabo's boats only charge $2-3dollars per person for a 10min ride to their harbor.
