Directions/Time from Puerto Penasco to San Carlos

We need to make a trip to San Carlos from Puerto Penasco. Any help on best route? Time it will take us? Helpful hints? Places to stay when we get there? Thanks for any help!!!

Drive to Caborca then pick up the toll road to Santa Ana and follow available directions on the Nogales to San Carlos route on the on San Carlos forum....avoid the unfinished coastal highway adventure at this time. Bring pesos for tolls maybe a 100 or so.
