Scuba Diving Tours: Rocio Del Mar

I guess if I have to look at how much it costs, I can't afford it- maybe some day!

I'm booked for the Rocky Point to Cabo trip the end of October.

So jealous-according to their site, it doesn't look like they're having any trouble booking trips ONE WAY to Cabo at $2995/ea for 20 passengers! Maybe a cruise boat might do a good business.

The Rocio Del Mar leaves port on Saturday at 5:00pm and returns on a Saturday at 8:00 AM. 8 days it say's.

I see that now,thanks, the one i seen was the other $2,995.00 trip.

I know somone who is leaving from cabo to go to the Sorroco Islands. I hope when I am semi-retired Stuff like this will still exist.:sad:

Was this yacht built here in penasco for sandy beach resorts, I know they were building a smaller sister yacht along with that one but they were complaining that the diesels were to noisy, this was about ten years ago. I guess they sold the about time yacht to make room for this one. Does anyone know if this is the boat or the history of the Rocio?

My understanding is that Dora Sandoval commissioned the building of this boat. It was all designed and built here in Penasco. We got to go to the ribbon cutting February of 09 it is quite a ship!

Tomorrow I'll be boarding the Rocio Del Mar for an 11 day adventure to Cabo with stops at many isolated dive sites along the way.

I hope it's on the schedule, if so I'll have some pictures.

Departed Thursday October 25[sup]th late in the evening with 20 passengers. Ocean was rough for 2 days and several got sea sick. Found shelter on the back side of Archangel Island. The seas was better on Saturday and we did our first dives there. We continued to travel at night and dive at during the day at several islands along the way like Isla Partida, Isla Las Animas, Isla San Pedro Martir, Isla San Marcos, Isla Carmen, Isla Partida, Isladel Espiritu Santo with our last dives being at the national marine park at Cabo Pulmo. The boat docked in San Jose del Cabo and we got off the boat the morning of November 5[sup]th.
Here are a few pictures taken along the way.

What does something like that cost? Can people go that just want to rest and ride, not dive?

They are sold out until 2016 for the explore Baja trips. Sea of Cortez to the Midriff Islands trips are available next year. My wife doesn't dive and went just for the adventure

• National Park Fees of $28.00 per person due on the boat.
  
• If you are planning on diving with nitrox, the fee of $120.00 per person is due on the boat or can be added to the invoice.
  
• $15.00 mandatory contribution to Hyperbaric chamber.
  
• Gratuity fee of 10-15% per person recommended.
  
• DAN Insurance is required. You must show proof of insurance and dive certification when boarding.
  
• Prices include three meals per day, snacks, beverages including soft drinks, juice, domestic beer and wine.
  
• Tanks, weights and weight belts are also provided.
  
• From North to South, boat departs out of Puerto Peñasco, we will be arriving 12 days later in San Jose del Cabo around 8:00 AM on the 12th day.
  
• From South to North, boat departs from San Jose del Cabo, we will be arriving 12 days later in Puerto Peñasco around 8:00 AM on the 12th day.
  
• When booking your flights remember that depending on the trip you have to either fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor airport and out of San Jose del Cabo SJD airport or the other way around.
  
• Normal full boat capacity is 20 divers. Trip minimum is 10 divers.
  

WOW, sold out is good for them. So they had a good idea. Maybe someone else will do the same thing. They are building several similar looking ships in the shipyard here.

They go out on 7 day trips from RP to the Midriff Islands for about 6 months then they move to Cabo to do about 6 months at the Socorro Islands and then back to RP. So once a year the trip is available. They used to offer a trip from Cabo to RP but they now they just go straight there so they have more time for maintenance.

What does Rocio mean?

It's their daughter's name.

LJ....although it appears to be pricey...if you consider everything (well, almost everything) is included...lodging, food, drinks (iincl. beer and wine) and the number of dives...looks like 3-4 per day....that's not bad.
