My sister is looking for a 2 bedroom condo to rent on Sandy Beach that will allow her to bring 2 older and well-behaved dogs. They travel with the dogs all the time with no problems. She's only found houses in Las Conchas on the rental sites, but wants to be on Sandy Beach.
As per the Sonoran HOA's and Jim can correct me if I am wrong.. Only owners are allowed to have pets at the resorts (only know about the sonorans). And the last thing we like to listen to is a barking dog on the patio when we are trying to enjoy our sunsets. Just My Opnion.

I'll tell Chappo the next time I see him!!!
Also, at Bella Sirena only owners can have pets. But those dogs do get pampered with green grass to romp on - a lot of afternoons we watch 'doggy play day'. Also Bella has special 'stations' for clean-up detail for doggy owners. Fortunately our doggy owners are faithful about taking care of the more unpleasant duties of dog ownership and the green grass remains immaculate for everyone else to enjoy. We love watching the kids and critters having a wonderful time.

Rob - I don't doubt what you're saying, but I know it's been done by owners renting privately through Craigslist, etc. If I were an owner I'd rather have a well-behaved dog or two than a 15 people in a 2 bedroom condo, though. Lots of times animals are more well-behaved than people.
I own at Bella also and can't rent to people with dogs. BUT I have been told by people trying to rent that there are owner that let them bring their dogs. Just like there are owners that rent and do not pay room tax or HOA impact fees
Mis you also aren't "allowed" to rent you condo thru Craigslist.[/QUOTE I realize that but there are tons of condos being offered on Craigslist. Why is vrbo.com different?
It is my understanding that all resorts along sandy beach have rental restrictions on guests with dogs (ie. you can't rent your unit to a guest with a dog). you may want to inquire about a private residence.

dry heat - the fact that they aren't supposed to doesn't mean they don't. Just found a nice Sonoran Sea condo that will rent with dogs. Not trying to get into a pissing match about it, I was just inquiring for my sister. I already have a place where I can take my cat.

people break rules everywhere in the states and in mexico. I'm just telling you how resorts view the topic. if your sister wants to rent a unit from an owner who is violating hoa rules and she willing goes along with it (to the point of maybe having to lie about it if asked by security)... well I guess that is her prerogative- no different than doing the same in other areas of life.
I found a simple solution. I went to the HOA and asked for permission prior to moving in (got it in writing as well). I have four dogs and we found it was not a problem. Everything in life is negotiable. Out of curiosity, how many of these various HOA's have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar stealing funds? Sounds like many of these condo complexes employ an obvious double standard when it comes to the "rules".

I believe most if not all resorts allow owners to bring their dogs... just not guests coming to the resort without an owner present.
Why aren't people allowed to advertise on Craig's list?
My understanding is that if everyone was allowed to rent on their own. the prices would get lower and lower from people trying to make a buck. There are alot of fees that go along with renting a condo. the up side is "Most" rental companies do have the owners back when it comes to damaged items or if somthing breaks while there is a rentor in the unit. While at the Sonoran Sea I have talked to many people who rent from Craigslist and when somthing breaks or doesn't work they are S O L as far as being moved or having things fixed.
We are and the Sea and can't seem to convince ourselves to be in a rental pool .... its just our little "Heaven on a paper plate" and guess just like it to be our get away and recharge place till we can retire there
I've never rented through a rental company in all the years I've been going, including at Las Palomas. Never had any real problems with things breaking, just small things like a coffee pot that didn't work, etc. Called down to the front desk and they've always fixed whatever problem we had - no issues.
JGatt-I agree with you 100%. If I owned a condo I wouldn't want any part of the rental pool either. I want to be able to leave all my stuff down there and just show up with the clothes on my back and the key. Now that is heaven - worrying about making up rental money to pay the utilities and HOA fees is just more stress. Although I do understand that back in the day when the condos were first built and people were buying multiple units they thought that people would be lining up to rent.
we just recently purchased the place .... and LOVE it and try to get there monthly ... not only to enjoy the view but to try and get to know the community and get involved in all the great stuff I see people doing.... makes for a tight budget but the REWARDS of relaxation and hopes of meeting the beautiful people of PP and expats makes it all worth it IMHO! Soooo wish I could retire there NOW!! :)
I wish I could afford it. I've run the numbers on our budget multiple times and unless we moved into a one bedroom apartment I can't do it yet. If I could find a part-time job I could work via the internet, I could make it happen. If anyone knows of anyone looking for a paralegal with corporate, real estate, and immigration experience, or any other type of legal work, let me know!!!!
I sooo hear ya as an ICU nurse I was like is there anything there I could do to survive just to be there full time .... sadly I found it couldn't :( so I will keep working away up here and take every chance I can get to get down to PP paradise when we can.
