How does health care work in RP for US citizens?

Now that I go to RP about 10 times a year, it just struck me that "What happens if I were to need medical attention?"

I know there is that new nice urgent care building on Sandy Beach.

How does health care work there? Do they have Mexican health insurance? Or is it pay by cash? Or have they worked out any deal with American health insurance providers?

I know that our health insurance here in the states covers us "out of network" when we are in RP. I have to pay my bill in RP and then submit it to my insurance for reimbursement. So you could check your insurance to see if you have out of network coverage.

From United Healthcare FAQ:
If I have an emergency medical situation, or need care in case of an accident that occurs outside my UnitedHealthcare service area, how is that covered?

If you require emergency care and/or accident care at an emergency room (ER) or urgent care facility, a network level of benefit is allowed without a
referral. This includes emergency care while traveling in countries outside of the United States.
Many other major medical policies cover as well. But read the FAQ to be sure.
