well - looks like teri and I will not be making the trip down for Memorial Day - a drive to Colorado (family) the following weekend has come up, and we can't do both. We'll look forward to whenever we can make it next - sorry about that, we didn't know a month ago the timing of the Colorado trip, those days are not flexible and we have to go.

The Grouper Tournament is going to be over Memorial Day weekend on Saturday & Sunday, May 26th and 27th... I was talking with Adolfo (About Time) and he asked if I would move the Bird Island trip to Friday May 25th or Monday May 28th or maybe even move it to another weekend all together because of the Tournament... So I'm open to suggestions, but Memorial weekend doesn't look good.
But I don't know how many people will be here and able to go on Monday... I think most people will be leaving on Monday and the idea of the trip is to make money for the schools and not just to get enough people to pay for the trip...
I wish things were different, we're not going anywhere for a while - Teri fractured her ankle (fibula). we go back to the Ortho surgeon this afternoon to see if she needs surgery or not to set it into place (it's slightly displaced). so, we cancelled Hawaii and Colorado as we get her healthy again.

Trip is Subject to Minimum of 12 passengers... this is a BYOB party....
Also because of a lot of indecision last year, people saying they're going and then not showing up, or maybe there will be 3 or 4 of us, it was hard to get an accurate count... so this year if you are going I will need you to make your payment in full in advance via PayPal (your payment is fully refundable if weather is a factor and trip is canceled) if you need to cancel for any other reason it must be done at least 3 days prior to the trip departure or you will forfit your payment (no refunds due to hangovers or over sleeping)...
One last thing can we PLEASE keep this thread on the topic of making reservations for the trip... we can start another thread if you would like to discuss what you're bringing or what you're wearing and topics other than reservations... This will help cut down the confusion... Thank You

We dont know if Ray will work Friday yet! If so We cant get there until Saturday afternoon..So we cannot confirm. I hate his job..We would love to take the trip and help the kids.

I am so glad to hear that it is still happening! While it starting off as a birthday/anniversary surprise for my husband, this has been a horrendous week & this sounds like just what we need. I am still holding out hope that my husband can still make it but his father passed away this past weekend after a long bout with Pancreatic Cancer & he is in Cuernavaca taking care of the many loose ends. While we were originally supposed to be in RP by Thursday, it looks to be more like Friday or Sat at the latest. Worst case scenario, it will be just my son & me along for the ride & possibly a friend if I can manage to round one up at the last minute :-)

This has been a great adventure in past years... While at ...the island we will be enjoying kayaking, snorkeling and we even get in some fishing to catch enough fish for our Annual Fish Fry for all those who hang around Rocky Point until Monday of Memorial Weekend...

Miramar Scott is a MacGyver type neighbor.All his crazy old stuff (you have to come down and ride with him in the giant wheeled Blazer) do the job without dinging the credit card.

As it stands now, my husband just booked his flight home from Cuernavaca & will be arriving to Phoenix on Saturday night. He will then pick up his car at the airport & drive down to Gila Bend to catch a shuttle to RP (He can't drive his company car over the border :-(. Saturday will be a long day of travel for him (2.5 hr bus ride + 4hr plane ride + 4 hours drive to RP including a nasty shuttle) so I will be in RP already & have everything ready to go for Sunday morning (including all his cocktails for the day :-) so all he will have to do on Sunday is wake up, get to the port & RELAX on a beautiful boat all day!! Our anniversary is Monday so this is PERFECT!!
As far as the fishing trip goes, he will be back other weekends in June & he can embark on his fishing expedition then. He may decide to include the family or decide to leave us behind but I want it to be what HE wants & sometimes a boys trip can be more fun :-). I will let him talk to Barb on the boat on Sunday (if that is OK?) for more information about boat trips & that way he can choose exactly how he wants to spend his Father's Day fishing trip :-)
I will keep you posted as to whether or not Sergio (my husband) will make in time for Sunday's trip but please count on my son & I for sure & plan on keeping the money for the kiddos if he can't make it in time! Looking forward to meeting you all!!
A pot-luck sounds like a blast & while we would love to come, I think it may be best (for everyone) if I get my little guy to bed early the night before the big day on the boat! He will have missed a nap the day prior due to traveling & NOBODY wants to spend the day with a whiney kid :-) I saw the update on the boat change & I am not sure if the new boat has a room for him to nap in like the other one did? Not a big deal though as he can sleep almost anywhere (even in a closet). He is terrible about going down if there is action around him though---even at three, he never wants to miss the party!! I probably really need to utilize the time after he goes down for the night to get unpacked & organized. Those two things that are not as easy when he is awake! There is a completely different trip going to the island on Saturday June 2, and I was asked to go along to be the onboard DiveMaster, but as I said that is a completely different trip and has nothing to do with this charity event for the schools...

I was clicking on the similar threads links below i.e.:Memorial Day Weekend Bird Island TripNOT REALIZING THAT THEY WERE FROM DIFFERENT YEARS!! I saw the videos of the "Pacifica" & its bedrooms & remember thinking how great that would be to have a place for my son to take a nap----(and for Mom & Dad to have some kid free time). Soooooooo when I saw that we were taking "About Time" & I thought there was a boat change to accommodate fishing. Again, I am going on very little sleep & have barely seen my husband for the last month, so I am barely holding it together lately!!! Soooo sorry about the confusion I caused.
This will give you a laugh though----I told my husband that you guys changed boats because you knew he was wanting to try his hand at fishing. I knew that wasn't the case but he because he is making such an effort to get to RP for this trip, I thought it would make him feel good! Not a problem Terace... I hope your hubby can make it... and there is a king or queen sized bed you can put your son on if he will be sleeping... Safe Marine is pretty easy to find, but if it will make it easier we can come to where you are and bring you a map, we do it for all our fishing and sunset cruise customers so you fit into that catagory... so if you want to send me a private message and let me know where you're staying or give us a call we can set up a time to meet you and bring you a map...
Tomorrow Sunday May 27th 2012, we will be leaving SAFE MARINA at 8:00am for Bird Island... Please be there between 7:30 & 7:45 so we can get your gear loaded onto the "ABOUT TIME"
Remember there is a $5 Parking Fee at Safe Marina so car pool if you want to save the $5 fee...

You are welcome to bring your own kayaks if you have one, I will bring my two (one of which is a 2 seater) and the boat has two...
This is a BYOB & Munchies party... It will be warm I suggest you bring plenty of water, beer is fine but it dehydrates your body... There may be some left overs from Chari's PotLuck tonight (Saturday) but if you think you will be real hungry it's best to bring your own food, we will be out there all afternoon (approx. 8am to 4pm)...
If you think you may be one of those who may get sea sick take a dramamine or meclazine tonight before you go to bed and tomorrow morning when you wake up, you want the meds to be in your system... if you wait until you get sick before you take it, then it will be too late... (you'll be laughing at the water) and sorry the boat will not turn around because someone is sea sick...

Yay, the internet is back up at PDO! It was down since yesterday morning......We are home after another fun and great trip to Bird Island! I am windburned, sunburned, crispy crittered and fried! I put sunblock on today, too! Once a redhesd........What a great trip! Met new friends and saw old friends..... And, we saw a whale shark in person! It was awesome! Now just waiting for Thanksgiving!
Thank You to everyone that came along on the Bird Island Trip... even with the smaller crowd due to using a smaller boat the "ABOUT TIME" instead of the "PACIFICA" we still raisedover $800 for the Adopt-A-Classroom of Puerto PenascoIt was a great FUN FILLED Adventure, and I can't wait until we can all get together and do it again... you all are AWESOME...

What an experience (the WhTle Shark) and it was great to meet new friends and hang out with old friends.....just an absolute fantastic time and we managed to raise some money as well!!
