Unattended Web Sites

The internet is a wonderful thing but I wonder when it will be so full of trash that it will become much less useful and useable. Example below is bad for Penasco. A web site loaded with inaccurate information, phone numbers that no longer work, etc. I wonder who owns this one ? I seem to have a memory the Larry Large bought it when things were hot. Now anyone that visits will get the impression that Penasco has shut down.

At some point the domain renewal comes due. No pay. Poof goes the site.

Those sites are really old. Some haven't been used since 2007. How long between paying for names. 5 years?

With my Encanto site you can pay up to 5 years and you get a discount. not much.

Thye otta just shut down. I was sorry to see Rosies site go away but better than than not kept up I think.

Roberto, the domain you referenced does not expire until 2015. Here is a link that explains the purchase of that domain.

With Google's Panda update and daily changes to their algorithm and "thin content", stale sites inevitably get pushed down in the rankings in time. This guy Matt Cutts: Gadgets, Google, and SEO is a guy to follow regarding how Google search works and changes everyday.

I use it as a information only site for our HOA in Playa Encanto so it does not have any bells and whistles.

This site USED to be decent. There was a forum and updates every week. I stopped looking at it a few years ago when all updates stopped and they pulled the forum.

I know the original owner of this site and it was number 1 in Google until he sold it...

Someone could offer to buy the domain.

Those sites aren't really that accurate. With that said its most likely worth 5-10k.
