It's an official Bank Holiday, next Monday the 6th, just wondering if that just means only government offices and schools will be closed, but everything else, including bars, supermarkets, etc. will be open. Yes? Correct? Thanks!

Don't all just pipe in at once! Maybe I already answered my question, but the 2nd part would be regarding the holiday as far as Mexican Nationals are concerned. Obviously not as big as Independence Day or Semana Santa, but does Penasco get a little bump in tourism, from other parts of Sonora, because of the three-day weekend? I'm wondering if bars or restaurants that usually close early will be open later, even if it's just for locals who may stay out extra late if there's no work the next day.

The stores and restaurants very sedom close. Navidade being the big closing day.

I think they only close for election day, but I am not 100% sure

Speaking of that Eduardo, I believe elections are this year, in July. Do they still not sell liquor on election day?

They do NOT sell liquor on election day and it usually is July 4th

When we went down last year during election weekend, we just bought plenty the night before at Super Ley and carried dark plastic water bottles with us wherever we went to eat. The restaurants couldn't serve us booze, but they could sell cold mixers like Cokes, that sort of thing, so it was sort of a wink-and-a-nod situation. I waited until they weren't looking in order to put the Coke Light into the containers full of booze, they pretended they didn't know what was going on. NOW, I wouldn't go in as a giant party of 12 pulling this kind of stunt, but these businesses were empty enough that they were just happy to get our food/beverage/tip money.

OH, and there was no ban on this past Monday, btw. ;)
