saw it was exactly a year ago I started this thread, which was exactly a year after the 2009 post. we're planning our return, and can't wait to see everyone. PDO here we come :)
You all come !! Edna and I will be there for sure. It is THE major event for me. Great fun Great people Great food and a Great place to be
WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR ?
I have been trying to talk my wife and other family to go down to PP for turkey tacos on Thanksgiving. Where do y'all meet up and what are the happenings around there?
badfish
It is a great fun filled weekend. Turkey pot luck 1st day. Second day a boat ride to bird island for snorkeling and fishing and turkey left overs if the ocean gods are with us. Next day a fish fry at my place with the fresh caught fish and chips. And then the next day who knows but something is likley to happen.
Don't miss this annual event.
I can't log on to the Rocky Point forum? So here is what I was going to post...
R.P. Joe, thanks for telling me about this thread. Valerie and I are planning our annual Thanksgiving party. If we have all the major players from the last couple of years almost everything is done. I'll have all the same stuff I always have. I hope to see everybody soon!
Rob....do you think you'll have any oil like last year?
I'll be picking up a container of peanut oil (enough for one pot) when CostCo or Sams starts carrying it. I should also have a turkey (12-13 lbs. work well for the deep fryers).
Rob/Mark...do you have any freezer space available for turkeys???.....might be a good idea to try to bring them down before Thanksgiving weekend...with the checks they're doing at the border....wouldn't want to have everything confiscated then!

Joe... we can probably find room for one, if someone wants to bring down an "early bird"...
I'll have 4-5 six foot tables, one eight foot skinny table and some chairs. Val always does a turkey and some side dishes. I'll talk to Mom and Dad... It has worked out so well the last few years. Thanks for all the help!
Michelle and I will be bringing down at least 1 turkey on Biker weekend. as well as the deep fryers and burners..Do we want to do the chicken wings again this year?
I've already got a 35 lb. container of peanut oil I'm bringing down this weekend. If anyone wants to try deep frying a ham, bring it....last year I couldn't find a NON-spiral wrapped one in the supermarkets right before Thanksgiving....they get scorched on the outside, but inside...VERY juicy!!!
AZRob has a double burner deep fryer (I've got a single one I could also bring down).
Depending on whether Rosemary comes down or not...we should be able to use the covered patio if the weather is not cooperative (last year it was a bit chilly and windy).

those were great appetizers....with the 2 different suaces (hot/spicy and barbecue).

Joe, I have a 10X20 canopy we can use?
Is it true that both Happy and Sub have RSVPed for dinner?
I got this from Happy...
Man we would sure like to go but there will be some forum people there & they don't like me & I don't want to spoil their dinner, & if Stuart were to show up, for sure I don't want to spoil his dinner <:-)
Michele will be making the trip down with us again this year :)
Can't wait to see everybody!! Thanks Joester/Teri (bro/sis) for having me along! Chuck/Val are you coordinating the menu? I'll bring whatever is needed (appetizer, side dish, dessert, etc.) Just let me know.
OH YES ON THE HOT WINGS.
If needed I also purchased a new propane deep fryer. I felt I needed one for the Fish and Chips. It is usable at Turkey Day if needed by anyone.

That's great....AzRob was planning on bringing down his double burner deep fryer....and I was thinking about bringing my single burner deep fryer.....
Michele,
It looks like we have two fried turkeys and one smoked turkey. Joester is bringing the plates and silverware. I'm bringing a ham, Waldorf salad and southwestern dip. I also have an extra crock pot, Coleman stove and pots and pans in the trailer if people need them.
So it looks like we need some dessert (pies - pecan, apple, peach?), some mashed potatoes or potatoes of some kind, some gravy, veggies (dippin' or a green bean casserole?), cranberry sauce and rolls and butter..... or whatever would make your Thanksgiving Day perfect :)
We can always use more tables and chairs (can't promise to have enough red tablecloths for everything).
I haven't been able to log into RPtalk, so just wanted to let you know that I'll bring a couple of pies. I'll keep trying to log on, but . . . don't know what's wrong. Have a great day and look forward to seeing you real soon!!!
It's time to gear up for the Thanksgiving Pot Luck. Is anyone making Dressing???? Gravy??? Potatoes?? Green bean casserole?
We need to do a chair count and a table count so can everyone re-post if they are coming, how many people they are bringing and if they have chairs? I have 18 feet of tables already in the trailer and another 12' coming down next week. I also have about ten chairs.
I'm planning on being down.....have a turkey down there already, and plan on bringing another one. I'll have a single burner deep fryer available if necessary ( I think we have 3 burners available already.....Rob/Bill).
Rosemary's has 2 tables available (we can set up the food under the partio, (and even the tables and chairs like last year if necessary). There are also 4-6 chairs available.)
Joe, FYI, I have a pecan pie and a chocolate creme pie - Marie Callender's.

I scanned thru some of the posts and then my eyes got tired.....do we have a general count of how many people and a list of what people are bringing or are we just gonna wing it? I think we have the turkeys covered.....Rob and I are willing to bring other stuff I just don't want to duplicate anything. Does anyone have time to make a list?

Really you have 7 post and you want somebody else to make the list.... Next you are going to take my money and give it to someone else.:hairout::stir:
I'm bringing a 10 lb.ham, veggie plate and brownies. My Mom is bringing a Pumpkin pie and I think my Dad is bringing tamales. I have two friends from Phoenix bringing pie. I have five in my group plus two from Phx. I can make mashed potatoes... I'm also coming down on Tuesday.
I just looked at the weather for next weekend and the wind looks kind of bat for a boat ride. Fri and Sat out of the North at 16. Sure hope that changes.
You all do a little prayer or what ever you do to the The Great Wind God.

I picked up ten pounds of potatoes, six cans of green beans today and Valerie is making gravy, Waldorf salad and southwestern dip.
If we need more chairs or tables let me know. I will bring somw down just in case we get to have some thing fried on the next couple of days after Thanksgiving. Even If we can't fish I think my friend can get us flounder and that should make a great fish and chips
Azbeachboy Do you know how to cook them? I now have a great source on cheap shrimp, a friend of ours that we see down there.
SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.
Sorry to say it but life being what it is and sometimes isn't Michelle and I won't be making the trip down. :( I did drop the turkey and deep fryer off with RP. Joe so the deep fried turkey will still go on.

I'm sorry to hear that Rob...There's always next year. I know Chari, Inka and his family won't be down either.
Bill, I'll have five six foot tables and one skinny eight foot serving table. I'm bringing some fold up metal chairs from home. I'll have around fifteen chairs.

We're going to miss you two... we'll take pictures, but don't be pissed if there's no leftovers for you... sea U soon...
we'll miss the folks who aren't able to join us - looks like the weather forecast is agreeable: 68 Thursday, 70 Friday, 73 Sat + Sun.
has there been any talk of a boat trip to Bird Island again this year? I know that the 3 of us would surely like to participate.
Mark and Chuck, you guys are making a huge dent on the salvation army's thanksgiving dinner roll call..Martha Vasquez is reporting today on channel 4 noon news...

Playa,
For years I gave away five turkeys every Thanksgiving at the beach. I've had to "change" the way I do things...
Ok Mark....you got me....so, what's the diffrence between mashed and smashed? Is it the method of disembodiment?:moon:
No difference... you say mashed... I say smashed... and the funny part is they're actually whipped and beaten... it's all potato abuse in the end...
Oh the brutality of it all... those poor little potatoes...
I wish you all a safe trip and have a greater Thanksgiving in RP.
We will be looking forward to the pictures and will definitely plan the trip down with you all in 2012.
We are really sorry we couldn't make it this year.
