I have found that I am losing propane from my tank. I shut the valve on the tank when I leave the casa to return to Phoenix, but when I return to the casa after about 4 weeks, I lost about 10+ lbs of gas. I tried to find a leak with soapy water to no avail. ZaGas guys tried also with no luck and they say they see much worse looking tanks then mine. Anyone have a suggestion or know of a good propane person to contact in RP to help me with this? If I have to replace the tank, I don't know who would be the best bet to have it done. I'm in Encanto.
I was away from the casa from Dec 24th until Feb 19th with the valve shut tight and lost 23lbs, so I doubt temperature is the issue also. I'm not of the tank capacity, but it's a good 5 to 6 ft long and diameter around 2 to 2.5ft I'm thinking.
There was a house fire in Encanto a few years back that was caused by a leaking propane tank. I drove to the house when it was burning and a large propane tank exploded as I pulled up. The fireball was massive. It was the scariest thing I have ever seen. I thought my ass was toast! Believe me, you don't want to mess around with a leaking propane tank. Do yourself and your neighbors a big favor and replace it NOW...before it's too late!!!
There must be a leak in the valve to tank. I have never lost propane in a tank the size of mondones when it's shut off. I only use that tank for the heaters in the winter. I agree, I would replace it.
Hey Mondone, we saw the fire in Encanto Sunday afternoon and I thought of YOU! Turned out it was just our garbage truck!!!?? Have you solved your propane leak yet? I was wondering if you have a padlock on your tank as we do. If not, I hate to say it but somebody may be messing with you.
Wow, didn't even enter my mind. Although it's kind of tucked away on the side of the house and I doubt it, I'm gonna lock it up anyway next time I am down.
