Mi Familia y Mare Blu

Saturday we were at Mare Blu with friends (favorite place) - food as always was excellent although very noise and hard to talk - lots of people there and music playing.

We've been wanting to try their new place upstairs and took a look at the menu. Prices (especially for Mexican place) seemed very expensive (more then Mare Blu) - noticed a combo place - one taco & one enchilada for almost $10! - most of the entrees appreared to start at almost $18. Plus there was no indication it existed - sort of if you know to ask you could find it - unless we were missing something.

I'm still trying to find a great place for the old style tacos (no soft tacos for me) and where my DH can get a great burrito and/or enchilada. I had high hopes for Mi Familia but not at those prices. Didn't pay prices like that in metro Phoenix area!

Has any one tried Mi Familia? Any thoughts? Tks.

I also like Mare Blu, and have not had a bad experience there. Last week, I took my daughters to the Mexican place upstairs, took a look at the menu and decided
to go to Rosy's for about half the price.

We've been meaning to get to Rosy's - how is it? Good old fashion tacos? Good Pollo Mole? Burritos?

Breakfast is great, nothing fancy. Rosy is there in the morning and for lunch, but hit or miss for dinner. I like her salsa and chips, combo plate is excellent and a lot of food.

Rosy's is pretty good for breakfast....when Rosy is there.... The place used to be very friendly...but when they expanded...it felt like the "customer service" went down hill. As tourist business has declined, they seem to have gotten a bit better.

Reggies old 8/12 beats the hell out of $18 burros....

Rosy's has the best machaca (not filled with potatoes), and the best chile rellenos in town. Pescado empanezado is also great, especially on Fridays. Great tartar sauce. Portions are all very generous.

It was reggies but he sold out to larry large its on sinaloa same street as the playa inn. Go south on sinaloa off fremont and its on the east side of the street.

Reggie's is a convenience store, btw. You will also see the "Drunk-N-Donuts" sign on the south side of the building as well. The cheap burros to go ARE quite good, great to grab on the way to the beach.

Remember when they only had maybe two or three kinds? Now you have to make decisions.LOL When I was there a few weeks ago, it was a must stop before heading out to the estuary... Why do I always tell the lady no gracias, but give here my change? I think her daughter is almost through college, and on her way to grad school now.
