Semana Sanata Holiday 4-15 -- 4-24

We will be driving to RP with our motor home on Friday 4/15.

How will the traffic be on the main roads to PDO?

Is there a better route to the campground to keep away from the traffic if it is busy?

Where do we turn from the main road into RP to end up at the Pemex on Fremont near the Los Conchos (sp?) turn off? Is it at the circle or roundabout?

A friend mentioned this route to us.

Just to let you know it is not very safe in rocky Point now. They are having drug shoot outs. I witness one on Saturday at Calle 13 & Marina Rd. corrner.
I was standing at JC's on the top deck. The Shooting with machine guns happening right below me. it was like being in the movies. Very Very Scary. It took me
over an hour to cam my nervers. I left on Sunday morning early. I will not be going down there until they get the drug wars under controll.

You couldn't drag me to any beach town in Mexico over the Semana Santa holiday. It's usually insanely packed with Mexican families and tourists -- everywhere!

Until I get an armored vehicle I dont think I will be going down any time soon.

Unless I can pack my own heat.

As you come into town, in the first traffic light you need to turn left, towards the side with the Pemex gas station, that street is called Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez go all the way untill it dead ends at the pemex and roundabout by Las Conchas entrance

Russ....as much as I still feel comfortable coming down to Penasco...if I had been right above where the shooting was going on...I would probably also have some second thoughts.....maybe even looking for a change of underwear.....stray bullets are just that....strays.....and they don't discriminate!!!
