Scuba diving

so my family is planning a big trip to RP in Aug. some of my family members like to scuba dive. they live out of state and will be flying to AZ to go down to RP.

my question is, is the diving in RP very good? I have heard it is not that good. these people have dove all over the world. I was thinking about taking them down to Pt Lobos for a dive trip because I have heard the diving is better down there.

what about equipment? can equipment be rented in RP or should we plan on getting it in Tucson and taking it down with us.

There is a dive shop there that rents.
