Came back on Wednesday (5/28)....hit the border about 4:15 pm....one lane was open...with several vehicles backed up to the Mexican side. The line did not move for about 15 minutes. Finally started moving very slowly, and then saw another lane being opened. The agent took his sweet time setting up, and opening the gate.
I think they have there moments. I made a quick turnaround on the Sat of Memorial day weekend and there were just 4 cars in front of me and it took 15 minutes with 1 lane open. I was fully expecting my :boat: to get the radiation treatment but did not. The cars in front of me got the full inspection though. I just handed over my passport and we made small talk about the boat and off I went.
Came back yesterday. Only one lane open. Go pulled out to go have a total check. They went thru my cooler and told me I can't bring back my salami. Meat products once taken into Mexico can not be taken back to US. It had not even been opened. They didn't take my open bag of lettuce even though that is a vegetable. So I guess I can only bring what I can consume.
One day we were going up to Ajo to hit Olson's for groceries. When we went through they asked where we were going so we told them - and they wanted to be sure that we had a cooler for the stuff that needed to keep cool as it was a very hot day (we did lol) - but really nice of them to think of it. I have to say that every time we've gone through, which isn't very often in the past 3 years, they have been nothing but extremely nice - both coming and going - USA and Mexican side. Same holds true for the other check points.
Friends came down past weekend and commented how nice everyone was. They were especially impressed with the check point as they neared Penasco - guys smiled and wished them a great time - which they did have.
