We are coming down in May and we want to know if anyone has had any trouble at the border since the new AZ law went into effect ?
playaperro
Law will not be going into effect for another 60 or 90 days.

You will not be mistreated in Mexico, these guys are not racist.

Besides that, the law does not impact them. They are not in Mexico illegaly
PitiquitoRosy
There has been absolutely no backlash here other than a determination by business owners not to spend money in Arizona.

So what is next? Arizona refuses to spend money in Mexico????

Over 70% of the people approve of the law. The Mexicans who waited in line and became American citizens Legally are in favor of the new law. Mainly the only people who dont approve of the law are the ones who choose to break the law and enter illegally. The USA fed govt has the same laws, too bad they dont enforce it or secure the border. The fed govt has forced AZ to enanct this law. Unfortunately along w/ hard working people comming over are thousands of criminals who are flooding AZ's prisons & making AZ a crime capital. The solution is simple....completely secure the border...enact a temporary visa worker program for just enough workers....problem solved...the workers get to legally work & enter safely & the borders are secure....

Hey people I've been going to RP for over 20 years and I know some of you have been going down even longer. I know the law is not in effect yet, but gee thanks for pointing that out. We try to come down once a month for a few days and people ask us about all the bad crap that the rumor mill has dredged up. Now it's "are you scared to go to Mexico? We heard that americans are the target of retaliation." These people are IDIOTS. Are we scared to come "hell no" are we careful "always " and thats the reason for this post !
So there !

I just returned to Arizona from Rocky Point with representatives from four generations of my family. As always, we had nothing but a great time. In addition to spending time at our home and the beach, we went to restaurants, visited Rodeo Drive and the Malecon and were treated with respect as we respected those around us...we had zero issues; only fun. I personally feel the town is on the verge of really rocking again and people are catching on that so many of the rumors are nothing but unfounded negativity. Viva Penasco!

Drove down to RP Friday and returned this afternoon. Spent time in town and went to a few restaurants. Saw the Dia del trabajo parade on Saturday. Everyone was super nice as always. I was worried there might be some backlash, but the locals were really nice and everything seemed normal.

Spent the weekend of May 1 thru May 3 in Penasco....very relaxing, no problems whatsoever (particularly since I don't drive a Ford F250 diesel:rofl:). No problems at the border....the Customs guy was a sourpuss, but professional....only a couple short questions....took about 10 minutes to get thru (about 2pm).

Spent last weekend in RP. Thursday through Sunday- no issues (other than the wind!). Town was quiet on Thursday, lunch at taco stand- only ones there, dinner at Flavio's- only 2 other groups there (there was 9 of us). Friday was better, lunch at JJ's- a few more people, dinner at La Curva- good crowd, Saturday was the same- more people on the beach we stayed at the Reef, LOT's of empty spaces), Dinner at the Friendly Dolphin- smaller crowd than usual. I drive an F-250 diesel and still have it; no-one was decapitated, no issues at all. People were as friendly as always. We hit the border at 11:09 on Sunday morning and were through on our way at 11:15- 6 minutes even though he wanted to look in our 5th wheel. Will be back in July.
Can't wait!!

We were down from Friday to Monday - had a great time at Chango's, Mary's. Boo Bar, Capone's, Cameltoe, Pollo Lucas, Everything was great, only dissapointment was Pablo having equipment trouble at the Black Dog. Wheather could have been better but wasn't horrible

Has anybody heard the band play at Debbies? I must be getting old but the music was way to loud!

Got to the border at 2:00 Monday, 20 minute wait.

Heading back on Memorial Day

My brother and 10 friends cancelled their Memorial Day weekend trip. They all drive newer customized Dodge and Ford diesel 4x4's and decided it wasn't worth the risk.

We got back from Rocky Point last Sunday. Had a great time! Was still slow during the day but picked up at nite. Weather was perfect and no lines coming back Sunday AM. Great trip!

I really don't want to stir the pot or whatever that is not my intention. But I just want to say that the last few years in rocky point around spring break time, Arizona always puts out a travel warning telling people not to travel to mexico which involves spending money in Mexico. But spring break time is the time of year when the locals usually make some money so they can live the rest of the year.So just like Arizona Mexico has issued travel warnings not to travel to Arizona(so to speak).Just a thought.

Drove up to Sonoita and Lukeville got hassled by a Federale who stopped me to be sure I was OK. Crossed the border, on foot. Got hassled by the poor lady begging with the walker, was forced to show my passport to the ICE folk inside. Had a dirty look from the clerk at the store when I swiped a bag for my mail. Got hassled by the Postmistress Nazi for having too much mail in the box. She sent back a package from my brother for the third time. Picked up two liters at WETA, got hassled by the clerk to buy a third to get a 10% discount. Strolled back across and punched the pedestrian button, got the red light, walked out to the inspectors who carefully examined every bottle and inquired as to the cost of Glenlivit 18 year old. Got hassled by the begger again. Had to risk stopping along the highway to pee on the return. Was frightened by seeing TWO Federales patrolling but not stopped. One guy waved at me. Hit a bad pothole on Fremont. All in all you can see it was a very stressful trip. No wonder people are cancelling their trips down.

Oh what a stressful day!!!

The federales were weird the last time I was down (2 weekends ago). I was heading back to AZ on cruise control, with another gringo behind me...doing a nice 70-75 mph. Looked in my rearview, and saw a federale hauling ass coming up the rear....without his radar...since mine had not gone off. I disengaged the cruise....and he zipped by me and the other car doing at least 90! Back on the cruise after he was ahead of us a ways. Then about 20 miles from the border, my radar went bonkers...I hit the brakes, and came around a turn with that same federale sitting on the other side shoulder with another federale...this one with his radar on. They didn't come after us...so I figured I had dropped low enough. Back on the cruise...and about 5 miles down the road...look in the rearview...and there's that federal again hauling ass .....no radar....again passes both of us. That was the last I saw of him.

This was after not seeing any federales patrolling for the previous 2 trips.....

Macallan sherry oak finish makes Glenlivet taste like hair of the dog.

Last Tuesday I took a group down and I was quite surprise to see the federales patrolling the road one going down and the other going up, both running around 90+ I was doing 72.5 in my cruise control so to stay under the 10 miles above, which in reality does not matter in Mexico!! :eek3:

During my scotch drinking days I drunk Johnny Walker or Glenlivet and I thought it tasted pretty good, although been a drink beer I prefer XX and yes my mom has a tatoo that reads "SON":rofl:
I rather drink Tecate, I just think that commercial is hilarious!! :eek3:

I've had two friends stopped by the Mexican Highway Patrol and they were told that if the they stay under 65 they would be OK. The speed limit on the highway is 90 kph which is about 55 mph.

I misspoke, I meant Glenmorangie sherry wood finish. It's been hard to find another bottle and I think I got that one at Ueta.

And how much did that sage advice cost them? I "ass"ume they were going over 65???
Wood Spinner
I have always held the 65 until I get passed and then drop in behind a high flier. Now with the Federales crusing at about 90 they can come up beind you and get you. I think I will hold the 65 from now on. Is a few min. saved worth the hastle. Not sure on my math but I think 65 mph or 75 mph = 7 min saved for the trip. And we go there to relax.
