I just drove down Benito Juarez. I noticed two Pemex stations that had their pumps blocked off and two other stations with lines of cars a quarter mile long.
Keep us posted if you can. Coming down this weekend.
Pemex at the windmills got a light delivery this morning. I was able to fill the Ranger but they weren’t going to be in business for long. Speculation is that gringos leaving town on Sunday (there were a lot) all filled up because gas was cheap, and this cratered supply. Not sure how it’s going to play the next few days. Everyone coming down should fill up in Ajo or Why and be alert to stay topped off when you see an open station. Don’t wait for Sunday PM to look for gas in case this repeats.
Since we're on the topic of gas I have another question. Does anyone ever try and gas up before 6am in Rocky Point? During the week. We've started leaving Tuesday mornings now instead of Monday nights but when we leave on Tuesday mornings we leave early so the wife can get to work by 10am. The last two trips I believe we were out of the house by 540am and had to go to multiple gas stations in town to find one that was OPEN. It seems you can't get gas before 6am in Rocky Point... Can anyone direct me to a station that's open all night/day or one that opens early in the morning before 6am??????? I assume there has to be gas stations in RP that are open before 6am for fishing/marine purposes.

Joe, since covid, that has been our experience as well, have not found an early AM gas station open whatsoever

Last month I told the wife that when we're returning on Tuesday mornings we need to fuel up Monday night. Kind of dumb not too but I guess I'm used to gas stations being self serve and open all day/night.

Sonoyta VIP 76 station attendant said they got a delivery yesterday morning but they had Magna only and wasn't sure if it would last through the day or not. No way it would last through today he said. I paid $3.49/gal yesterday early afternoon.

Congratulation for getting married. Best wishes to the both of you!
On Tues Magna was 18.39 pesos per L in Sonoyta, ($3.49 per gallon) our neighbors got 20 liters at the Oxxo before they ran out.
Last week we paid 18.39 per L but the peso was weaker so we paid $3.35 per gallon.
$4.07 That's still cheaper than anywhere in AZ, a friend told me that gas prices in RP are about the same, 23 pesos per liter $4.37 per gallon
as it was last week before the many people from the US suddenly discovered gas was $1.70 less in Sonoyta .
The Gov't subsidy went away in border towns from 4/2 -4/8, then they will re-assess keeping the subsidy off or add it back.
The funny thing about the high price of gas in the US and the world is that,
Wholesale gas prices are close to $3.20 per gallon, in the US anyway, in AZ after you add profit, taxes to it of
$.70-.80 cents per gallon. Gas should cost $4.00 MAX at the retail market.
I'm guessing there is Mucho price gouging going on by someone in the supply chain.
This pricing difference between wholesale and retail pricing has been this way for years.
In CA the difference is closer to $1.10 per gallon.
Adjusted for inflation the real cost of a gallon of gas from July 2008 shoots up to $5.37 in today's dollars—well above the current cost of $4.318 per gallon.

Humm?
Here is a gas price column chart from 1980 adjusted for inflation. 1980 gas was $1.22, in 2021 dollars that works out to $3.32.
I'm sure it's higher for 2022 because of 2021-2022's inflation.
I was in the oil business for 35 years. Watch the earning reports for big oil. They leave very little on the table to trickle down to retail. Even with creative accounting the profit will be hard to hide. California charges sales tax on gasoline in addition to state and fed flat rates. That's why they are always higher than we are even with our boutique fuel mandated for Maricopa county. That boutique fuel is hugely profitable for the refiners that supply Maricopa county. It also has a shitty shelf life because of the ethanol. Don't store it too long.
Your stats are the years but the 4 dollar plus gas was in July 2008….figure we make over 40% more money now and our cars are more efficient this isnt much of a hit…

I buy both gas and diesel and never had any issues. First time buying diesel I pull up to the pump and “Lleno por favor“. I jump back in the truck then look back and see a black hose filling the tank. I jump out and immediately turn it off and then after a few chuckles with the attendant find out Black hoses are diesel and green gas. I have also heard there is no ethanol in the gas which probably makes it better.
In Sonoyta on Thursday Magna was 18.49 per liter, $3.48 per gallon at 20.2-1.
Reg at Costco in Scottsdale was $3.99 today. The 3 Circle K's I went by were still at $4.69.
But prices are Slowly coming down, I figure by Oct, gas will be $3.50ish.
