I'm so sad to bring the news that our longtime friend Lady Jeeper passed away early this morning. I have none of the particulars, but having talked with her fairly recently and seeing her post's on facebook just a few days' ago, I'm shocked! Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

Oh, so sorry to hear that! I'll think of her when looking out towards the beach, remembering how much she loved it.

She was great. I will miss her!

That is sad news indeed

Very sad news, was just thinking about her today and now this. I only met her a few times but considered her a friend because she made you feel that way. One of the nicest people I’ve ever met and she had a love for RP and it’s people that was second to no one. You will be missed Chari.

I was so sorry to hear this. Just the other day I was thinking I hadn't seen any posts from her recently. Blessings to her friends and family.

Oh man! I knew she'd been having health issues for quite a while, but this shocks me and makes me very sad. Chari didn't have a mean bone in her body and had such a droll sense of humor; I was hoping that she really would write a little book with all of her funny stories in it.

She was a decade younger than me; way too young to leave us.

I will always remember her by something she mentioned in a conversation we had earlier this year. To me, this is the essential Chari:

"I can swear in 2 languages

i remember seeing Canyon de Chelly. I leaned on the railing and cried

We got to go on a guide Jeep tour in our Jeeps. It was spiritual"

I hope she knew how loved she was by her many friends.

Gods speed Chari. I never had the chance to meet her, and only new her through this board and her posts. But the quality that I most noticed about her was how she projected the simple joy of spending time in Rocky point. She will be missed.

I'd been missing her since she left. Her departure from the forum left a void.

Speechless. Not the news I wanted to hear when I opened this thread. You will be so missed, Chari.

Well I know I am going to the MIrador this weekend and drink a beer on the beach.. Maybe go sit on the porch at her trailer if I can find it.

Lot 149, I think. Stopped by once on my way out with a buddy just to say hi. She and mom were still in jammies late in the afternoon. Said "Well, hi!" and headed up the road.

She was a character. Mom, too.
GringoZona
That is so sad. She was one of the best on this board about sharing stories of Penasco's past. I never got a chance to meet her in person but I felt like I knew her. Rest in peace.

So sad to hear this news - Chari was one of our first friends at PDO and here at the forum. We hope to hear about a memorial service for her soon, her sister posted something on her Facebook page. I've inserted a picture from a trip out to La Pinta from 2011, good times on the beach!
I remember a number of years ago, we needed to make a beer run - Chari let me borrow and drive her Jeep, she said she never had done that for anyone before, I still think that was a special honor. Past few years we have missed her at Thanksgiving over at Val + Chucks - she said her Mom wanted to have the family together in Phoenix. We shall raise a toast to her in a few weeks when we gather again!
RIP Lady Jeeper !!!

Hi Joe, I sent you an email right off, but maybe it's been changed? A picture of Chari on Thanksgiving, and a few others from 10 years ago.big 1,288 ends labor day 1085.jpgbig 1,288 ends labor day 1081.jpgbig 1,288 ends labor day 1082.jpgbig 1,288 ends labor day 1080.jpg

Thanks Kenny,
So sad about Chari, still have not heard about a memorial service or celebration of life.
My email has probably changed a few times at least in 10 years.
Are you coming down for Thanksgiving? Haven't seen you in a while......
Stuart
Thanks for posting those Kenny.

A very handsome Ric Felder in one of those pics. One of the best fishermen I've met in my life.

No, I won't be down and though we've been in contact a few times in the last 10 years, it has been a while; a long while.

We hit the 51 the next day, as we kind of made that part of our Thanksgiving for a few years. Yes, it is.

I gave her that badge when she was talking about it several years ago. She will be missed. A very nice and caring person.

This message was passed along by Chari's sister and we thought she wanted us to post it.
First, I only had one face to face meeting with her and that was on a Sunday morning when
I picked up Chari and her dear friend Char to go visit the Casa Esperanza kids home. It was
an eye opening experience I shall never forget. She had a huge heart especially for kids.
After that day we had many, many message conversations.
Here's the post.

I got this in a e-mail today-- I am Chair's sister, Kris. My 91 year old mother, who does not own a
computer, asked me to send you an e-mail. Chair passed away on October
30th. She appeared to have died of natural causes--just sitting in her
chair in front of her computer. Mom found your e-mail address in Chair's
address book. She was wondering if you could pass the word along to
anyone who might have been her friend down there, or members of the Rocky
Point forum. Also to Cyrano, if you are familiar with who he is. Her
memorial service is going to be on Tuesday, Nov 20, at 2:00 P.M. at the
North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ, 85012, in
the chapel. (Just in case you know any of her friends who live up here
and may be interested in attending). She has been cremated and wants her
ashes to be spread along the beach in Rocky Point. That will have to be
some time in the future--because my husband and I need to obtain
passports.
So sorry to have been the bearer of such bad news. It has been a very
difficult time for us--especially Mom. 91 year olds are just not
supposed to lose their 61 year old daughters....
Thanks for your time,
Take Care,
Kris Ainsworth Schmidt

Jack,
Thanks for posting that, I know that a number of us here on the forum have been waiting to hear more news about Chari's passing.
Please send Kris a link to this thread if you would - I'm sure her Mom and family would like to read the many posts here from Chari's RP family.
We will take time next week to celebrate Chari's life with some of that RP family she loved so much.
RIP LadyJeeper

Sent to Kris and she was most appreciative. She printed all the comments to give to her mom.
