Since I am not retired yet, I have to work certain days, it seems that the days that i am off the weather in RP seems to go crazy, last time I went down was with a friend of mine and in his boat, first day we got soaked and chilled to the bone, the next day was flat and we made it to 51 where we did good on snapper and one 14lb leopard, gthat has been about a month ago, Shawn and I plan to be down on the 6th of Feb maybe the weather will be in our favor:sad:
This was supposed to be my weekend and the weather was crazy, we used to go down more weekends than not but this economy has screwed up my retirement plans. See you on the 6th???
I sure am glad Scott and i have been catching the weather on good days. wish it was possible to go every weekend. but we all got bills to pay and we aint won the lotto yet. If i do ill take care of the close few. We will see you guys on the 6th. hope the weather cooporates. I think were gonna do the 51 on saturday and actualy try for grouper on sunday at the clooser reefs. I got a new 9/0 spooled with 250 i wanna try out. see you all soon.
You're gonna do a LOT of hunting for grouper at this time of year. There are a few there, but nothing like in the warmer weather. More likely to catch a few pintos. Last trip, even with nice live mackerels, we didn't get a grouper hit all day. T-bass and pintos only. I'm praying for some good weather on the 6th -- want to do the deep reefs.
Cool, it looks like a lot of you "Rocky Point Pro's" will be on the water on Feb 6th and 7th... I just might be towing my boat down for her maiden Rocky Point fishing excursion that same weekend.
Will probably be staying pretty close in for this first trip - I've got to do some fuel consumption rate calculations and get a kicker engine hooked up before I'll feel comfortable running 50 miles out.
