Just talked to a friend who was fishing using shrimp on the Las Conchas side of the Marua last week, just as the tide was starting in and hooked something that took line off the spool and eventually straightened out the hook! So folks there are some big ones to be caught from the shore. I'm goin to get my pole !!
I've hooked into some monster stingrays fishing all along the beach south of Marua all the way to La Pinta. It's a struggle to catch them even with a 12 foot surf rod, heavy reel and 30 lb. test line.
But hey, since he didn't catch it, we'll never know! The one that got away... hate it when that happens.

It's just occurred to me that you guys are the ones we see zooming out to sea in front of our house in Las Conchas over the years....we were always soooo envious! We have little inner tubes and sea kayaks....nothing motorized.
