We fished half days on Friday and Sunday at 12 to 16 miles out in 100 to 130 feet of water. We caught 2 gulf grouper at 20 and 50 pounds, 8 leopard grouper at 15 to 20 pounds, 1 small pinto, and a yellowtail. All were caught on live bait, except the yellowtail was caught jigging. We even caught a golden grouper. It was another awesome weekend in the Sea of Cortez. We hope to fish again on Saturday and explore the inshore reefs.
I had an addicted fish attack when I first opened your pix. Got out a thick slab of last months Sardinero from my deep freeze, gonna broil it with a little olive oil and Italiano spices, then at the last minute gonna cover it with shredded mozzarella and a hand full of capers and just EAT IT!
BTW the yellow macho boys are a little tough and lean compared to the standard fattie chickie spotted models. I usually toss em back.
