Since Sandy Beach was closed to access just wondering what local beaches are open to the public?
Looking for some that are within 10 miles of town.

Tucson Beach is just too crowded, Mi Playa is a nice beach but a litter ground by those who use it.
Any suggestions with directions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

We go to Playa Encanto. It's about 9 miles east of town on the road to Caborca. It's well marked. It's beautiful and hardly anyone there.

LJ, Thanks. We haven't been to Encanto in awhile, but will check it out next week. I really like the "hardly anyone there" part.

There might be a few due to Mem. day but it will be a far cry from town crowds. There are also a lot of shells....I also like it cause you can drive right to where you want to set up and not have to lug all your stuff up and down. It's kind of steep. Ya gotta have 4WD, tho.....

Plenty of parking in Encanto on the beach access roads where 4WD is not needed. Visitors are always welcome!

LJ, can you actually drive down onto the beach in Encanto? I was under the impression you couldnt really do that. Just wondering for future trips and Landshark, is there anywhere in Encanto to back your truck down to the water to launch an inflatable or kayak? I've always wanted to fish out that way but being handicap it is impossible unless I can get my truck to the water... Thank you!

Joe, You can drive on the beach in Encanto only to launch or retrieve a boat. My neighbor launches his inflatable right out front but I can check with him for details. We'll be there all weekend, come on over, do some fishing, have a few cold ones. We'll hook you up...

Landshark, I had no idea you couldn't drive on the beach there. My apologies. When did that change?

No problem LJ, kinda wish we still could! The HOA changed the rules maybe 10 years ago. Most of the homeowners were in favor of it and if I remember right it had something to do with becoming bank trust eligible and getting electric, etc. Dont remember exactly but Terry probably will. All things considered it's nice to sit on the beach and not have vehicles roaring by.
MIRAMAR
No driving on Playa Miramar or Playa Dorada either

The only vehicles which are allowed on any Mexican federal beaches are those used to launch and retrieve boats and emergency vehicles. Hoas have absolutely no authority on the topic no matter what they might think.

Driving is allowed on the beaches at El Golfo.

People also drive on beaches around Penasco quite frequently but even if largely unenforced, it is still technically illegal.
