We are planning a trip to RP towards the end of March. We have a pregnant daughter who was hoping to join us. We are all concerned about the Zica virus and are trying to figure out when the mosquitos start showing up on the beach. I remember we used to notice mosquitos about a week after the highest tide We stay out on the Encanto beach. Is it still too cool in March to worry about mosquitos? Any feedback would be appreciated. The virus seems to be spreading quickly and we want to err on the side of caution. Thanks.

I don't remember ever seeing mosquitos in Playa Encanto in March. I assume the water temperature is still too cold for them to breed.

I'm hoping this is limited to Southern parts of Mexico. If it makes up this far, then I'm sure that means it's in the US too.

I've never seen mosquitoes in March either. Usually we see them after monsoons, so in July-Sept, but usually that's because someone has left standing water- buckets, rain barrel etc.

WHO's Director General said the virus is "spreading explosively" and "the level of alarm is extremely high. "Twenty four countries have reported cases of the virus and the WHO has predicted it will eventually end up in virtually every Western Hemisphere country.

The Dengue is a real worry...you get it and it stays with you in a painful way...Caborca may have had over a hundred cases. We do not know because that crooked PAN bastard Gov. Padres boosted much of the money for these types of investigations...

"Although they were already confirmed by the State Laboratory 45 cases of dengue in the municipalities of the Sanitary District Number Two, Luis Alberto Lizarraga CANEZ said that more are expected.

The national chief recalled that last year the first case was identified on 10 September and kept coming until December, so that the dengue season is just beginning.

Of the confirmed cases, he said, 20 are of Desemboque of the Seris and 21 in Puerto Libertad, both Pitiquito Township, while three were recorded in the ejido La Almita and one in Alameda, both of Caborca.

"In the jurisdiction we have it reported 45 cases, there is probably a little more," he said, "in the urban area of Caborca I have no reported cases but we have heard of cases in some neighborhoods and we will investigate."

Not to wait for a person is diagnosed with dengue by the State Laboratory and do not make her suffer and even avoid deaths, he reported that work hand in hand with private laboratories who give notice to the health authorities if there are positive cases immediately lift the siege epidemiology and patient care.

No cases of chikungunya in the region

Until yesterday it had not been reported no cases of chikungunya in the municipalities of the Sanitary District Number Two, CANEZ Lizarraga said.

Although there has been no case in the region, he said it is doing everything possible to lower the population density of mosquito "Aedes aegypti" then transmits both dengue and chikungunya.

He explained that it is the female of this species itchy, it needs blood to reproduce and has a range of motion 100 meter radius of where he was born, so we must be very careful in homes.
