Can somebody explain me who is this Jerry
It is my understanding that he leaves in Mexico. But why so negative
I love to vacation in Mexico.
I travel to Puerto Penasco or Obregon 10-15 times a year and I never have a problem.
I enjoy every moment spent in Mexico and I never feel threaten.
Yes it is a different culture but I enjoy it.
Jerry, you are always blasting Mexican corruption in Mexico, but so what, do you really think that we leave in a crime or corruption free in USA,
Once in a while tell us why are you still there if it is so bad?

Our forum pal Jerry is little bit of both Don Quixote and Paul Revere, constantly both hopelessly attacking and sending apocalyptic warning alerts from his keyboard launch pad. We love him all the same though.
Whatever anyone thinks about Jerry's politics, etc. I can tell you he is a really nice guy. I rode with him from SE Arizona after he answered my request on this site for a ride from Tucson to RP. He actually picked me up in Bisbee, saving me the hassle of trying to get to Tucson without a vehicle. We explored some new territory for both of us, crossing the border at Naco instead of at the more usual spots. It was a long drive and we had lots of time to get acquainted. He came across as very thoughtful and well-informed. I think he does love Mexico but no one can accuse him of wearing rose-colored glasses. He's been coming down here a lot longer than I have so I can hardly compare my five-or-so almost-totally-hassle-free years years with his experience. We all pick our news/information sources and choose which ones we want to believe. Jerry's no different. Neither am I and neither, probably, are you.
Hard to be all sunny after having guns pointed at me twice in two years...hey what can I say, my glass is half damn empty.....plus that homeport idea sucks worse that Liberty Cove..
You know, I remember seeing great plans about Santo Tomas/ Las Dunas when we considered buying a lot there 18 years ago. It's still beautiful, and maybe all those houses will be built, and the club will be fully functioning. But people can dream, hope and build. I don't think the port is going to have huge cruise ships, but hopefully there will be big enough boats that we can all enjoy the Sea of Cortez and go to areas we probably could not have if it does not happen.

I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS FORUM FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND WAS NEVER INTERESTED IN JOINING IN UNTIL I READ WHAT MIRAMAR POSTED. SPOT ON. THANKS, MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY.
I THINK THAT'S WHY I NEVER GOT ON BOARD, FOR A NEWBIE IF I HAD POSTED SOMETHING LIKE THAT I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN DISREGARDED HOWEVER, COMING FROM A RESPECTED MEMBER IT GIVES IT WEIGHT. (I WRITE IN CAPS BECAUSE I HAVE 2 MESSED UP FINGERS ON MY LEFT HAND)
The new govenor is exposing and bringing prosecution s against ex govenor Padres and his crime family (PAN) they looted Sonora for 6 years, ruined the roads, took bribes, looted road maintance funds, looted hospital monies and have put Sonora in budget emergency...anyone that has not noticed this collapse into crony capitalism has not been paying attention. Dead in the water is pretty much where we are for a bit...maybe that is a good thing.Invest at your own risk until She shows these reforms are real.

That has to be good news for a start. The new road from town to the Caborca highway is also very good news. Things can only get better with the change in leadership.

I keep saying to people that tell me that is crazy to go to "RP Mexico" that very soon it will be the most secure spot to go
I am scared to travel much further south or anywhere in Sinaloa, other parts of Mexico, If you travel or live as carefully & smart as possible (most of us are very blessed to chose where we go or live for the most part) your chances are lower that terrible things will happen to you. Life is never a guarantee though but once I arrive in RockyPoint I feel so much more safe than a lot of parts of Tucson or Mesa that I have lived. Scratch that, safer than any parts of Tucson which is why I will always live on the outskirts if possible.
That means there are 73 countries with more corruption than Mexico. It's a scary world out there.
It's all relative and knowing how to play the game. Mexico has always had its problems but it is fairly easy to stay safe and have fun if people don't bring problems on themselves, with a few exceptions.
Being informed and able to make wise choices from Jerry's posts has been a comfort. Take it for what it is. Information.
Russ will let us know what bands are playing where and keep us all up to date for festivals and parties.
Jerry will let us know road conditions, political happenings, water weather and pest problems etc. .
Since I have been a member of these forums I have not once seen him tell people flat out to stay out of Mexico.
In my heart I know he cares for Mexico and all of us visiting and living there.
The sum of my fears ...this thing could break open again if the memos are weakened and not taken out....good description...
In what is considered an operation by federal police and army against criminal groups engaged in transfer of drug in Sonoyta, there was a raid in the ejido Sonoran Desert presumably directed towards Guillermo Mists "The Memo" leader of the Sinaloa cartel in this border.
Rumors say that the ranch was burned William Mists "The Memo".
Two helicopters of the federal police opened fired on houses located in the ejido and towards the international line.
Both units made overflights of the city and there is a climate of fear among the population.
Border customs Sonoyta is closed and do not answer their phones
In the operating ensure that also involved DEA agents United States in coordination with the Mexican authorities. They have even seen journalists Arizona Luckeville area adjacent to Sonoyta.
Notice was given to the people not to leave their homes and stay protected but have something important to do in the street
There is concern among the community for not knowing for sure the operation that takes place ...
Around 6:30 in the morning began overflights of helicopters and remained even after 10 o'clock.
In operating a convoy with 15 units of the federal police he came to Sonoyta to support the rest of the elements found in this area.
Sonoyta disputed area for drug trasigo
The fight for control of smuggling routes for drugs and undocumented immigrants among drug cartels has been between local groups of "The Salazares" and "memos".
The group of "memos" is commanded by Adelmo Fog Fog Guillermo Gonzalez and Nava, one of the main operators and people trusted Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, as they say.
Fog Gonzalez, "The Lord," "The Viejón" or "G-3", was captured in September 2012 and considered at the time one of the main operators in the Pacific Cartel for the smuggling of drugs into the United States. On May 27 2014 he escaped from a prison in Culiacan.
Meanwhile, "The Salazares", which were led by Adam Salazar Zamorano, alias "Don Adam", arrested on February 15, 2011, is now run by his sons Jesus Alfredo and Adam Salazar Ramirez, who from that date made by the cartel's operations in the state of Sinaloa and Sonora slogan dominate the northwest.
Last May, these bloody battles recorded in Sonoyta, especially in the ejido Sonoran Desert, forced more than 200 thousand people to flee their homes, only the clothing they were wearing.
