TUCSON, Ariz. -A Phoenix woman who was said to have flirted with an officer at a border crossing station is accused of trying to smuggle 13 pounds of cocaine into the United States from Mexico.
Federal officials said cocaine valued at $134,000 was found Sunday hidden in 39-year-old Anett Pikula's 2006 gold Mercedes Benz at the crossing at Lukeville, Arizona.
A criminal complaint charging Pikula with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute said she was "overly talkative" during a primary inspection, and Customs and Border Protection spokesman Garrett Reinhart said "flirtation was what was going on."
Reinhart said that made officers suspicious enough to call in a K-9 unit, whose dog quickly detected the scent of cocaine, according to the criminal complaint. X-rays of the vehicle then led officers to six bundles of cocaine allegedly hidden in a secret compartment.
new York daily reports that Pikula was born in Mexico and became a U.S. citizen in April. Social media accounts belonging to Pikula depict the suspect as a world-traveler, posing in Dubai, Amsterdam and Brazil, according to the newspaper.
A public defender assigned to represent Pikula did not immediately return a call seeking comment on her behalf

This past Monday [7/27] while waiting to cross back in to the U.S. we were held up before approaching the scanners by a BP guard who had plastic gloves on. Another guard approached and asked us stay back as they put something under the front and rear of the car in front of us. A dog was brought out and thoroughly sniffed the car from front to rear. I was watching intently to see what was going on. The dog became pretty excited and the agent with the dog [also with gloves on] searched and pulled out the two packages . I figured this was some kind of bust and now I would be sitting for hours but the dog was immediately rewarded with a treat and a lot of attention and we were able to move. The guard at the gate told us this was a test for the dog and the first agent had placed two drug packages on the car to see if the dog could find them. The agent also mentioned the recent big drug bust with the flirting lady.

I noticed that same thing with a truck in front of me when we crossed over back on July 15th. The dog got all excited and was up under the truck. They let the driver through. So must have been the same training exercise.

I have been asked permission several times if they could use my truck for them to work their dog.
