    Me as moderator

One of the other forums I used to belong to when I rode KTM motorcycles would not let anyone register unless they had a non "freebie" e-mail address. i.e. : an e-mail from a business, school, government or one that you paid for or at least one that somewhat legitimized you. I was in between jobs...

Pic from the top of Pinacate

If planning to climb Pinacate the drive from the visitors center to what we call "base camp" at the Cono Rojo campsite is about 10 miles and requires 4 wheel drive. From Cono Rojo the park has an established route that takes you around the backside of Pinacate and is about a 7 mile hike one way...

    Your favorite Mexican Beer?

When I was younger about the only beer available in RP was Corona de Barill in the little"grenande" style bottles. Pacifico is now my favorite but I think Negra Modelo is one of the finest beers made anywhere. When at home in Phoenix, if I put a lime in a Pacifico I am instantly transported to...

    Prices? US or Mexico?

Pacifico at Costo is a couple of bucks cheaper by the case and there is no deposit. I still buy all my beer in Mexico to support the merchants. I am not a permanent resident and tend to avoid the restaurants as I love to cook. I truly love street food and have eaten it from LaPaz to Ensenada and...

    Prices? US or Mexico?

I can buy many of the same items in the states for less than the cost in Penasco -especially beer. Even had Mexican fishing guides tell me they go to the states to buy their staples because the local merchants gouge them. Food items in the grocery stores are usually a better buy, overall I...

Be careful Atving in isolated areas

10 crazy Tucson women having an election party would be a terrifying and tortuous ordeal to attend.

From the slopes of the Pinacate Volcano 10/26/12

This giant Ocotillo is on the slopes of Pinacate. We guessed the canes to be about 30' tall. At the base some of the canes were about 10 inches in diameter.

    Lobos Corvina

Great catch! We used to catch Yellowtail and Red snapper just off shore in Lobos. Love that place.

    Chino has passed away

Very sad. My friends & I bought tacos from Chino Man for at least 10 years. Once, Chino let me put on a frock and cook for him- it was a lot of fun!

My first warning from a Sonoyta police officer

I was pulled over last Sunday just as we entered Sonoyata town from the South and where the speed limit dropped. The officer showed me his radar gun which said I was going 64 kilometers an hour instead of the posted 45 K's an hour. I figured a fine was coming but the officer was very friendly...

IMPORTANT and NEEDED ASAP ... life changing need in my humble opinion!

How do you staff the clinic if we can find the machines or money to get the machines? We may be able to appeal to local clinics in Arizona for support. I know nothing about the process but am willing to help.

    My Pinacate update

We backpacked to the top of Pinacate this weekend. Our intent was to spend the night on top like we had previously done. After a long hike we discovered that the wind was blowing at about 30 miles an hour across the summit . Anything that was loose was instantly gone. We decided to camp below...
