    Illegal Dorado Fishing in Mexico

A friend brought this video to my attention on another forum. Definitely worth watching. About 20 minutes total in three parts. Having fished San Carlos for so many years, I've seen what goes on in this video first hand - the longlines, the dead turtles, the total disregard of the ocean and...

    My Aquarium

Awesome! Lots of nice fishies! Keep up the good work. Maybe you'll get lucky and a whale shark will come around this year. I guess it was about 5 years ago there was a small one just hanging out at the mouth of the harbor for a week or so. Beautiful creature!

Is it just me or what?

My bad - another forum I belong to has the option to set how long you stay logged in, not this one. However, when you go to log in, click the checkbox next to your User Name that says "Remember Me". A cookie will be saved on your computer and each time you come to the forum, you will...

    Take a break

I agree. I think the heat is making people crazy. Everybody needs to cool off.

Is it just me or what?

All seems to be working okay... you do need to be logged in to respond to postings. I believe you can set how long you want to stay logged in. If you've been poking about just reading for awhile, then go to post, it is possible that you've been logged off. As Roberto mentioned, the "navel" -...

    Pulp Fishin...

Cool video. The Sargent Majors (yellow fish with the stripes) are cute when they're little. Once they get some size to them, they get really territorial and aggressive. I've had them attack my swim fins, trying to take bites off the end! I haven't snorkeled in awhile. Sure do miss it!

Fishing experience, advice, info por favor!

Glad you had a good trip! Whenever the corvina are running like that, it is truly epic fishing. A fish every cast! I've quickly filled a five gallon bucket with the bigger ones and let all the smaller ones go. Lots of fun!

    More killing in Rocky Point???

Exactly. It hasn't happened yet, but as the violence grows, it's only a matter of time until an innocent gets taken out. If it happens to an American tourist (god forbid, a child), the US news media is going to be all over it like stink on shit. That event would pretty much nail the coffin...

    More killing in Rocky Point???

Wow. Somebody really had it out for this guy. He must of known something or done somebody very wrong for them to take the clinic hostage and finish the job. Very, very brazen and frightful implications for Penasco. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... <cue Jaws music>

    Fishing Report from 7/25/09

The site is looking good, guys! And nice job on the fish! I was thinking about going this weekend, but still have some work I want to get done on the boat. Been so damned hot here in Phoenix, I haven't gotten much done. Maybe in 2 weeks. Although I've experienced it several times now, I still...

Nautical Ladder Dead in the Water

Roger would go to Mexico and Roger would drink the tequila. That's what Roger would do. That 1st first video link above shows exactly what Roger would do, in his own words! (Thanks for the link, Pirate!) Roberto, it's a fake bumper sticker I created, mocking the WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) that...

Nautical Ladder Dead in the Water

I was a big fan of this project, but it was overly ambitious on a grand scale. I love to fish Baja and would love to explore more, but it's desolate. Adding a few decent marinas here and there would be a heck of an improvement! It's one thing to trailer a small boat to some of the destinations...

    The Police in Ajo

Ahh, Ajo. They really have nothing better to do. I always watch my speed right to the inch per hour. I've had them do the same thing - ride my bumper. Then, they go around and pull over the guy in front of me! Did get stopped one time. Told me my brake light was out. I stood at the back of the...

    What a weekend!

As much as I want to come down Aug.1, I don't know. Last trip was so hot. I need a bigger boat. With air conditioning!

    Dehydration

Gatorade is good alternative, Roberto. I prefer water myself, but it doesn't replenish the minerals and electorlytes you lose sweating. Costco has cases of Gatorade from 9-14 bucks US. I always have some Gatorade on the boat, but didn't bother drinking it because I hate the "Kool-aid"...

    Sunrise, Sunset, Sea of Cortez

Those are all beautiful. I've included my personal "best-ever" shot below. It was as the sun was going down in San Carlos. One of the most dramatic sunsets I've ever seen. The sky looked like it was on fire. Something else to see that should be on everyone's "bucket list" is the Sea of Cortez...

You don't need any bait on a sabiki. Don was saying to use the small fish you catch with the sabiki as bait on a larger hook/different set up for trying to catch leopard grouper. One trick I have seen used with a sabiki is to put a lure like a Kastmaster on the bottom instead of a torpedo...

Hi Jim, My favorite for shore fishing virtually anywhere in Rocky Point is 6 or 7 foot Ugly Stick, a decent medium-size spinning reel, spooled with fresh 12 to 17 lb. test line. I have some setups like this, as well as some true 12 ft. surfcasting rods from my East Coast days. You can hurl a 4...
